[REQ] More Sectors

It seems like there should be a way to extend the # of sectors created for the game, seems like these are randomly generated anyway so maybe a mod that allows setting the # of sectors created during a new game creation.

Sectors are not randomly generated, they never have been in any X-series games, at least the ones I've played. And the sectors are a lot bigger than you would think. Also I think there are quiet a few sectors in the game atm, it may seem like there are only a few but once you start exploring you find that there are quite a few of them.

There is someone trying to recreate the X3 galaxy in a mod, and having some success

And also apparently is creating some sort of galaxy editor with it to boot!

What I am also missing are some empty sectors (not owned by any factions), inbetween. Spots for you to claim. Without having to go to war.

There are several of those, Nopileous Fortune II and VI, Heretics End, and a few other places too. Heretics End is fairly safe, as is Nopileous Fortune VI.
I like Nopileous's Fortune VI because It's in reach of several resource rich systems and it's a Bottleneck which makes it a good place to hunt enemy shipping :P

Yes, but not many and you are always forced to the same couple of sectors. The game could do with 3-5 new empty sectors.
