Targeting for Dummies

Well after 50hrs on keyboard and mouse, I just noticed if I use spacebar to fire, it hits center, if I use middle mouse wheel button it gimbal fires. Man you got to love X games, its a constant learning curve.

There is actually a setting in the controls and a description of such in the Manual.

Weapons can be sorted into groups under the Weapon Configuration part of the Ship Interactions Menu, allowing for the player to switch between using specific weapons (eg. high damage long range and accurate short range weapons). Primary ship weapons will automatically try to acquire the selected target ship, while secondary weapons will aim at the position the cursor is pointing [if player-assist 'target target' mode is selected - Snafu].

So I leave my Controls settings to Primary Fire as RMB (so the guns usually auto aim unless the target is way fast then I aim at the target assist reticle) and the option to Fire Primary Weapons at Cursor (blank).

Ahhh yes when the manual came out the other day, it wouldn't let me open it, spinning wheel of webpage death. Now it works, will read it now. Thanks for the reminder.
