This bug have been in game from the start. If you fast enough you can get into the asteroids. Maybe its not a bug but a harry potter easter egg. :P

Happened to me twice. I also saw NPC ships in asteroids. I emailed egosoft about this with a save. They replied it will be hard to fix but looking into it.
Player ship should use auto pilot to get out. NPCs will get out if you leave the sector.

I'm not 100% happy with the reply but they took their time to reply quickly at least.

I think they also disabled collision damage to your ship's hull in an early patch (lik 1.2?),
since the autopilot was constantly crashing into things..

I guess they didn't focus much attention on collision glitches before,
since your ship should have exploded on impact.

It would be nice to prevent this though, as well as the other extreme - if you're moving really slow
you can basically glitch through most buildings - i watch the NPC controlled ships doing that a LOT
