Setting Up Miners / Traders for a base

Post by TomatoAE »

I have a starter base which is producing meat

Produces Energy, Water
Requires Ice

I don't understand how to assign a miner and a trader to the base

I click on the miner, right click on the base, and see several options to choose. In the case of the miner, i select automine for base. When i go into details i see its behavior is "autotrade" and ICE is selected. The bugger just sits there....

With regards to the trader, I'd like to set it up to only sell meat. How do i limit it buying everything else?

For the limiting part you could always set the Restrict trade with other Factions on. You could also set it to the very cheapest price to buy to limit it. I think you want to sell what you produce to much so it is probably better to go with the latter option.

For the other part....
Did you click the command "Set role to mining"?

i clicked on the miner and then right clicked on the base and chose Assigning role for->assign mining for <station name>

i then click on the behavior tab

Order cue says : Default Behavior : Autotrade

In the default behavior section i have:

Set Default behavior : autotrade (greyed out)
Wares #1 : ice

Currently having a similar issue. I have my PHQ sitting with 0/60k ore, 0/200k refined metals, 0/50k silicon, 0/200k wafers, 0 ice, etc.

Also of note: my PHQ manager is 3 star, and my autominers are all 2-3 star.

Ordering a miner with automine command on to mine for my PHQ will cause the miner to fill up, then drop a random amount between 4-100 ore (out of 600, Manorina), and then go find another rock to mine. But then it will turn around once it gets to the rock and complete dropping off ore. Except it won't drop off the ore, but will go find a new rock once it gets back to the PHQ.

So, I tried a workaround I saw elsewhere: Restrict trading, set prices to highest, and use regular automine. This resulted in an even stupider situation: every single station *OTHER* than my PHQ in sector is absolutely full, and my miner is looping thorough them topping them off 5 ice at a time. My PHQ sits empty.

So, I tried limiting the miner to mine ore only, because the only ore consumer in system is my PHQ. Set radius to 0 sectors, so autominer doesn't leave sector. Check an hour later: THE AUTOMINER VIOLATED ORDERS AND IS HAPPILY MINING 2 SECTORS OVER! while my PHQ sits empty.

Just finished reinstalling the game.

Have you discovered ice fields?
Maybe deploy a resource probe someplace where there is ice?

Yep. Done all that. Have several cubic km of ice probed in system. Collecting the ice/ore/silicon isn't the problem, the problem is successful delivery of collected resources.

Post reinstall update: Somehow my station manager got unassigned. I had to find him wandering the docks of my PHQ (couldn't comm), reassign him as service crew to a docked ship, then reassign him again as manager. 3 star manager is back.

Opened trading of raw materials to other races, added 500k to station.

Cancelled all orders on a magpie and a manorina, told them to mine for PHQ.

Magpie finished up a load of ore, then flew to PHQ, and dropped off 9 ore. I watched this happen on the logistic screen, the magpie was listed as en route to drop off 9 ore. Then, after dropping the ore, it took off, circled the station, and got an order to drop off 166 ore. I didn;t see the transfer, but now it has 0 ore and appears to be going back to mining. Manorina has orders to drop off 210/600 ore.

At this point, the magpie is full again, and is sitting around full. Manorina has 390 ore and is circling the station. I dump a bunch more money into the station coffers, topping it off to about 1.3m (all I have on hand). Immediately, the logical view shows a queued drop off order for 175 ore from the magpie, and 390 from the manorina.

It seems like you need to have cash on hand to cover the cost of materials, even if your own ships are bringing the materials.

Trained up from a 1 star.

I've had a kestrel sentinel autotrading from my PHQ as soon as I built my first solar panel.
