Automate Freighters for building materials?

Post by Grimmrog »

Ok I am very confused if and how egosoft hid that feature.

Generally by a gamers logic if one builds a station he wants to tell a freighter to "go and buy material" But I cnanot figure out in the lots fo settings what they do (and if I set specific things nothing happens)

What I did so far.

Got the PHQ and assigned a docking bay
build a building ship and assigned it to the station which seemed to have worked.
Build an L feighter (Pelican) but here thinsg started to o nothing.

Told the freighter to trade for station.
I assigend him to the station, which worked as he is now assigend to it but then he just idles around as I cnanot change his settings of auto behavior when assigned and the defualt behavio is just "hold position" which then obiouls does nothing.
"Trading for" only seems to work as a manual task if I already have material.
"Transfer wares with" is like the tading one except for no money I guess
(what makes me wonde ris, thee is also a "mine for " option, but the pelican isn't a miner or cna it mine? o.O)

So is there a possibility to simply tell (or a complicated one tos et up, but then how?) to tell a freighter "go and buy whatever material this station needs to be constructed" ?
I mean seriously, that is probably what most people want to do, tell a cargo ship to go and buy stuff to finish building the station. So am I just to dump to find these settings or is it not xistent?

Do you need to bother? Same with builder ships, they are expensive and NPC ones are almost free to hire.

Once you confirm plans, it requires materials and you have set you purchase prices (I have them at 10%). NPC ships happily fill that for me so I don't feel the need to waste my own ships while they can be doing something more profitable.

If they like the deal they sometimes come.

Wonder if you have your own builder ship are you able to assign the trader for that?

Of course I have to bother, its part of the game and should work.
The point is, I explicitely do not want to byu the wares I want to know, (as that makes jus sense) that my freighters go and buy the stuff for me.

well I can set the Freightr to "Trade for" at the mammoth, but then i is just using the protect as default, and the default once assigned cannot be changed.

generally it is strange that via the menu of default behavior, it's not possible to set autotrading on any freighter, this only works when rightclicking at the map.

That should be because of low level captain. For behaviour they need to meet the 3 star requirement.
