No speculations, please.
Does anyone know for sure what the effects of service crew are for a mining ship for example? Does it mine faster? Do I need them at all or can I save the money?
Same for Traders. And for bigger ships as well, does service crew improve combat effectiveness?
Has anyone come to any solid conclusions? I haven't seen any difference yet between my crewed miners and my lone captain ones.
What exactly does service crew do on your ships?

From what I've read so far (haven't tested it myself) they repair the hull of your ship to about 75 to 85%. I don't know if better crew (stars in engineering) can repair more or faster. Some say that they also are getting experience from those repairs.
