Did you know you can see yourself? Hmm... so...

Post by Socratatus »

If you dock, run round to the side of your ship then use the outside view you can actually see a little man stood by your ship? That`s you that is.

Now I know Devs don`t have time for this right now, but it would be nice to make up your own look of your character. Perhaps one day they`ll implement this so i can look more like me and not this guy. :)

Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

Your looks change depending on your start.
The explorer looks like this for example.

too bad you don't see your character model while in first person, in that I mean when you look directly down. If I look directly down I see my body, arms, chest, legs and feet. In game first person view we do not have this, we have an invisible body which in my mind is immersion breaking.

You can see your body in first person in Star Citizen *ducks for cover*

True. It is weird.

Still I hope eventually we`ll have a better custom character creator similar to what Elite has. However, It`s ironic as Elite gives you a body with legs you can`t use and X4 gives you a body and legs you can use but can`t see!

You can also see yourself through the cockpit from the external view. The glass makes it a bit hard, but you can sometime do a bit better by getting up from the pilot's seat and then walking to the window before switching to external view.

I love how he's completely naked in space besides his helmet.

Looks like that was retconned a bit, because Teladi are mainly 'Crewwoman' but there are many 'Crewmen'. There are less males but they are there. I actually think they have a specific voice type and texture variation too!

It was in a book about the universe, so I don't know. Supposedly males aren't allowed to pilot and such, most of them stay on the home planet.

I'm not sure about the retcon (if it is one) myself. I've found whole stations with no Teladi females in sight, and yeah, I've noticed that. There is a Teladi female model that has this nifty outfit that I wanted for my station manager so it was both disappointing and immersion breaking to not find a single female Teladi on a TEL station.

I'm wondering if the people spawner in X4 just randomly creates crewman and crewwoman labels at a fixed ratio across the whole game instead of taking into account that certain species are supposed to be heavily male or female. If it is working as intended and the Teladi are supposed to be majority female, I clearly need to buy some lottery tickets.

most teladi are female because they were cut of from their home world. when ianamus zura was connected to the network, some males appeared.
Ianamus Zura is one of the most important sectors of the Teladi Space Company, both economically and historically. The ninth planet of the star Ianamus, Zura, is the homeworld of the Teladi race, and the only world where male Teladi exist.

Ianamus Zura was disconnected from the by the Ancients back in the 22nd century and remained isolated for many years, until it finally became reconnected to the network in 2913.

Unfortunately for the Teladi, this happiness could not last, as the Ancients disconnected the gates of the sector, along with every other jumpgate in the Milky Way, to keep the Xenon from spreading.
on topic: so... val is a female name? i did not see that. how does the paranid look like?
