X4F Game Broken because of war/economy bug

Hey all

I had played for more than 50 hours before the patch and now it seems that my game is completely dead... xenon and other enemies are rarely seen.. i have put up some satelites in the xenon space .. very inactive, even clsoe to warfs and shipyard. My friend told me she started over and seeing much more activity and actual working universe.. i for one do not want to throw out 50-60 hours of gameplay because of their mistake. Anyone know if i give it time the uniserve will fix it self or do i have to wait for another patch?

Starting a new save is the best way to get the most of the new patch if the hostile races have been basically defeated. As Xenon still have to build their stuff, so might not recover if they've been stomped out.

In theory, it should get better, even though it might take quite a bit of time. But if the issues from the previous versions had enough time to really hinder the universe mechanics, then that time might be too long to be sensible, or a faction could have been way too damaged to be able to have any real comeback.
When it comes to such balance patches, there's technically no "issues" at going on with your save, but a new game will probably be better both in the short and in the long run. I feel you, just restarted for 1.3 myself, but unfortunately if you want the best possible experience it's something that's not new in X games right after launch. They do a good job at not *requiring* you to restart after a patch, but you can't turn back time when the damage to the current save has already been done.

The Xenon may not be able to recover. If they've lost the majority of their fleets/stations, the main factions will probably keep a lid on them.

50 hours isn't really that much (run a SETA drive, or get cheat engine and use that to 5x or 10x time), and if you want, you can just cheat a bit to get back where you were economy wise. The biggest loss will be all the infrastructure you've laid, in terms of exploration and satellites.

I heard in other tread that fixes from 1.3 is not magically kicks in right after the patch. You should wait an hour or so to things properly respawn/built.

I had my PC on all night too see if anything changed, so it seems like 8 hours atleast wasn't enough... It looks like a new game might be the only option .. i didnt build much besides on my unknown station .. but i just build my first capital ship.. its gonna suck to get rep with all again and explore galaxy.. Atleast, is there a way to easially boost my money in a new game so i dont have to farm crystals again?

You could just cheat the money in via save editing (or by exploiting certain mods: for instance, having the collector's edition, for me the paintjobs for sale mod would let me sell the CE paintjobs for millions if I wanted). Redoing all the exploration and sat placing is a pain in the ass, but again, mods like Sector Satellites will make your life a lot easier (and imo they feel balanced as it is, vanilla goes a bit overboard in wasting your time imposing way too severe limits on radar ranges and such).

Yea, exactly! setting up everything and scanning stations AGAIN that will be a pain ... atleast if i can save myself from grinding money i can live with that.

That satalite mod will atleast help with a new game ! thanks, do you know how save editing works ? do i need a tool or is it just a text file.

Report the issue as a bug. The more people that report it, the faster it might get fixed.

It's just a text file, but pretty big. A fresh started new game is about 100mb uncompressed, so expect your text editor to be sluggish. I'd suggest using notepad++ for easyness of editing (keeps all in order and tagged). Then you need to find the section defining your player, it will be under <entity post="playerpilot"/> if you have saved while piloting a ship, or <connection connection="player"> if you saved while on foot. Right under that, around the inventory section, there should be the money value.

There are also a few other mods that could make your life easier: like the flyby lockboxes, that lets you open them quickly as soon as you get near them, or the increased long rage scan one (self explanatory), and again the Signal Leak Hunter (which makes it quicker to find data leaks, they get pointed by the mission guidance system when you go into short range scan mode near a station). These are all QoL mods that might make getting back to where you were less frustrating without actually "cheating", although some do change and/or remove quite a bit some mechanics, and you might feel are unbalanced. Matter of tastes of course. There's also a newly posted earlier today Crystal Finder mod that gives nice colored glows to crystals, making spotting them much easier, but right now needs polishing (replaces entire files instead of just the needed lines, could give issues and it's worth waiting a bit for the author to fix that).

So what’s the point of testing if major issues are not addressed? I’m seeing no change from the patch but I’m not restarting. That’s what you do when things come out of bets into Release Candidates.

We need a Jump Start fix for this.
