Ship bug?

Ok I found a abandoned Drill ship, take it to get some upgrades and undock and see a red civ ship destroy it. But I see a lazer beam of to the top left of my screen as I fired my guns and when I shoot so dose the beam, I'm thinking what da hell? so I looked up at the mining ship and fired a burst to see if the ship fires as well and guess what? It fires as well lol. So i'm like what the hell fire a few more burst and it dose the same. Has this happened to anyone else?
