I came across other ships where it was indeed directly connected to the docked ship and retracted when the ship was leaving the dock. So i guess that's a minor visual bug.
I didn't test other M-sized player ships yet.

1.30 BUG visual - Docking clamps not connected with ship
While on the Argon Shipyard with my Nemesis Vanguard it seems that the "docking clamps" or power connector (whatever it's supposed to be) is not connected with my ship. See screenshots.
I came across other ships where it was indeed directly connected to the docked ship and retracted when the ship was leaving the dock. So i guess that's a minor visual bug.
