Well apprently id does mine. But well beyond anything practical. I have to HUG the rock and the laser will do their job automatically:

HOWEVER; I did fit a LARGE mining laser on it but it's slower than any other gun at destroying a roid.
Next, you get these little rocks, right. Since the drones are not going out to pick them up I tried flying into one; they explode in your face:

So lets try to tell the wing to "attack" or get the drones to pick up... Nothing remotely resembling a command for that though.
Suggestion:
- Allow us to select the rock with right mouse button click and increase the range of the lasers... I have to practically fly INTO the rock
- Enable the gun selection for turrets which are for protecting you're ship. I have 1 L mining laser and the others are weapons for protection, please place them on the hud for selecting their mode
- Increase the damage a "mining" laser does to the rocks (only rocks) cause this is ridiculous, I could have taken any other ship and destroy this rock in seconds
- Once you break up a rock; give us the possibility to deploy mining drones or right click on the small rocks to collect with the mining drones or.... something so we can actually mine
