1.21-1.32 BUG Salvage mission second lockbox not counting or not found - Improvement in a future build
I've gotten this a couple of times now.
When going to the site for the lock boxes one is spawned just outside the range of the site and doesnt count towards the mission, leaving it impossible to finish as only one of the two required has counted.

Re: 1.21 BUG Salvage mission second lockbox not counting or not found
same.
Mission is "Salvage Contract", one box is outsite of the mission location. Once you get close to it the objective switches back to "fly to location". It is possible to open the box and grab the cargo, but it wont register as mission accomplished because of being out of area.
Save can be provided.
Edit: It is possible to push the lockbox into the mission area by carefully bumping into it, so the mission is infact completable, but is this the intended way to do it?

I had some boxes spawning way outside the area, but they would count. Maybe you found a box unrelated to the quest? The only thing I had (even weirder) was one box vanishing, if I got closer to it (under 1km). No matter what the bug is, the boxes should always spawn within the marked area.

I did 3 theses in 1.20 or 1.21 (not sure which now!).
They worked fine but the second lock box wasn't found with the same pings as the first. Is it possible that you found an unrelated lockbox outside the area before finding one specific to the mission?
Note for Devs: Please also see this post.

I opened the one that was inside the area first. The second one was just outside the specified area, about 2km. I think it is highly unlikely that it was just a random unrelated lockbox. Once i pushed the box into the mission area (when the objective changes from 'fly to area' to 'find lockboxes') it registered perfectly fine for completing the quest.Sparky Sparkycorp wrote: ↑Sat, 8. I'm very confident this is an issue with spawning the box out of area, but as stated above it MIGHT even be intended.

Re: 1.21 BUG Salvage mission second lockbox not counting or not found
I did one mission about 30 minutes ago, one of the lockboxes was 25km+ away from where the 'scan area' was.
Only reason I noticed it was as I was flying I was dropping from travel mode to scan mode, Firing off a ping, then heading back to travel mode. Lights up the 2 "?unknowns?" on your way there and you can just target them on the map or in cockpit view with T and fly to them.
The way I look at it (not sure if this is intended) but the area marked is where you scan from. then they could be anywhere within 250km (or whatever the minimum LRS range is) from the origin area, tho it could be they are just spawning outside.
Hope that helps
Edit: I should note, all the missions, medium or above when it has been 2 lockboxes, 90% of time the second box was outside the 'scan' marker

Re: 1.21 BUG Salvage mission second lockbox not counting or not found
I've just done another and found the 2 required lock boxes within search area.
The best way to help Devs confidently differentiate between the following possibilities (and work out how to fix it) is if saves* are shared with active missions where some required lockboxes are outside the search area.
1) A mission lock box is located outside the search area (preventing completion without pushing it back in (nice workaround!)
2) Both mission lockboxes were within the area but one wasn't found.

Re: 1.21 BUG Salvage mission second lockbox not counting or not found
I had problems with this too. First lockbox was within the mission area. I pinged the scan for about 15 minutes and flew all around the area with no results. Finally, the second lockbox showed up randomly on its own about 25km outside of the mission area. I opened it but it did not complete the mission, still said I had one lockbox to open. I spent aother 15 minutes flying around and pinging with no success and finally aborted the mission.
This is v 1.30 btw.

Re: 1.21 BUG Salvage mission second lockbox not counting or not found
To clarify the mission can be spawned on 4 difficulties:
- easy (10km radius),
- medium (20km radius)
- hard (30km radius)
- very hard (40 km radius)
The lockboxes are spawned specifically for this mission, so finding "random other" lockboxes will not progress the mission. The easy/medium difficulty should be relatively easy to solve. The "very hard" one is indeed *very* hard since the space to search is huge(!). The lockboxes should be inside the spherical area marked on the map ( and in the saves I investigated that was indeed the case ).
Pushing a random box into the mission area is not going to work, the boxes are specifically spawned for the mission (and other boxes will not count).
Update: Found one issue, where a mission failed to listed for an 'early destroy' of a lockbox. This change should be in latest with 1.50 (maybe earlier).

1. shouldn't the boxes show up when you use the radar (shift3 mode & R) and are facing the correct direction?
2. how close do you have to be to them for them to appear on the map or in the radar?
