Can't hire pilot for player-ship at shipyard.

Is it supposed to work this way? That I can't get a pilot for my own ship at a shipyard, but I can get pilots for ships that I want to purchase or just for any ship that isn't the last ship I've flown?

when you buy a ship its a check box in the buy page.
Otherwise you can hire any old person or send anyone from your crew to man a ship as a captain.
