1.21 BUG Can't dock Drill Vanguard at ED medium docking pads - Workaround until future fix.
I am in Black Hole Sun trying to dock at the equipment dock in my drill vanguard. I have all green landing lines on my hud but the ship refuses to dock and I just bounce on the floor below me. I've been able to dock before but cannot dock at this station.

Re: Can't dock
Are all the indicators green? You have to match all of them before you can dock, including the pitch. If in doubt, take a screenshot when you're as close as you can to docking and post it here so that we can see.

Everything is green, including pitch. I have restarted the game and if the problem persists, I'll screencap it for you.

Re: Can't dock
I think you might be facing in the wrong direction. You should be pointing towards the wall when you dock, as per the green hologram.

Re: Can't dock
I was definitely facing the correct direction, as per the hologram as you said. Leaving the ship and ordering the ai to dock solved the problem and I've since been able to dock myself. I believe that the docking trigger is further into the station than my ship can physically go? Please could you log this as a bug as it was nothing I was doing that was wrong.
Additional: if facing the wrong direction, the landing indicators don't even come up, only red arrows telling you to turn around.

Re: Can't dock
I can't log it as a bug without more information. At the very least I'd need to know which ship it was, what kind of dock area, and which docking bay. If you still have a savegame where the problem is still present, that would help a lot.

Re: Can't dock
Sorry I don't. It was a Drill vanguard ship, docking at any medium docking pad.

I also have this bug and have given up on the drill vanguard. The issue is it wants the ship to dock literally inside the station's geometry. I know this because I got in my spacesuit and looked outside. It was showing the docking animation guiding the green outline way off of the actual docking place that the game guides the player to.
The docking parameters are out of alignment for the Drill Vanguard. The devs need to check out where it actually asks players to land the ship and realign it to slightly higher than the platform.
I was able to successfully dock it once, by going way forward, holding the strafe down button, then backing into the spot, but I was unable to reproduce this success at the next station.

Re: 1.21 BUG Can't dock Drill Vanguard at ED medium docking pads.
After some analysis, we've determined that the problem is actually more to do with the shape of the ship than any incorrect parameters. The tail fins have a tendency to collide with the dock because there is very little clearance, and the length of the ship means that even when the docking pitch marker is green, the pitch of the ship can still be sufficient to allow the tail fins to collide with the dock. We'll be fixing this as soon as possible, by allowing a greater height tolerance above the dock for all ships docking at M-sized docks, but as a temporary workaround try pitching down as much as you can within the pitch tolerance before attempting to dock.
