1.32 CDT - Crash when saving game

Hi Ego,

- 1.21 English Gog
- Not modified in any extent, no scripts, no mods.
- First start with tutorial (not remember the name)
- CTD after been playing 5 to 10 minutes, this happened 3 time in a row, when flying in Black Hole Sun, docked inside the argon equipment dock and the last one modifying the ship, before this started happening I captured a Cerberus Sentinel, this was due to a mission to kill a guy, this one bailed so I capture the ship. Every time I start the game after this events, 5 to 10 minutes of playing I got an CTD, this was the first time that happened to me, before I didn't get any crash.
- There are three changes before this happen:

1) Renamed savegame folder and started again.
2) I got slightly over clocked the cpu but I was getting hight temp so returned to default values in bios.
3) The game updated to 1.21

This issue is ongoing can't play the game more than 20 minutes, now the game is crashing always when I save like some minutes into the game, it's like if there us progress in the universe it can't save it.
Also happens if I start a new game.

It's happens always, First try to save after 1 or 2 minutes, no problem, after I play o couple more it crash while saving the game.

It happens with quicksave and normal save.

If you are willing to look at it I will upload the save and crash dumps but I never get any response on the original post.

PLEASE HELP, I really want to play the game and I'm not able.
This is really frustrating, this is the second time, first rebirth and now X4!!!

Okay, I made some more testing, seems that disabling the option "save game compression" fixed my issue, this is under Game Settings.
hope fix your issue djmidex!

Still the same, the only thing is that I can play a bit more before it crash when saving.

Thanks for the help egosoft, I bought a game that I can't progress/play due to be unable to save the game.

I just wanted to support you, knowing that there would be bugs but one thing is some bugs and another is that I can't play it without crashing when saving, so I'm unable to play it.
What most frustrate me is that I didn't get any help, at least some hint, anything.

I bought rebirth at lunch, filled with bugs, missing features but at least I could played it.

Really disappointed!

Sorry for the rant, I don't mind the bugs because I know you would fix them but this crashes don't let me play the game.

I'm not sure whether this is good news or bad news, but your savegame doesn't crash for me. I let it run for quite some time.

CBJ, thanks for the test, have you tried saving after a while? that's my issue, I can play it for some hours but when I decided to save crash.

One thing that I didn't mention is that in the gog galaxy the game appears as UNKNOWN GAME VERSION instead of installed.
Searching on forums I found that some people have this issue and claimed that this didn't bring any issue to them, so I didn't payed attention to this.

In the frustration yesterday I completely uninstalled the game and also removed save games and all related folder.
I have installed it again today and now I see it as INSTALLED, this is how should be, know that I have tried it in the past but without deleting all folder and the UNKNOWN persisted.

I will test when I'm at home a let you know if the issue was fixed with this, I think that could be, maybe some files were corrupt¿?

And most important Thanks for taking a look at my issue, really appreciated.
Keep the good work and really wish that this game is a success for Egosoft!!

I did try that, and it saved fine. I think the GOG issue is just a labelling issue in their interface; the game itself is the correct version.

True about the labeling but unfortunately still the same, I just tested it and again it crashed while saving.

Seems I will have to wait for futures patch's and cross fingers!
Not really know what happened, I was working really good, 0 crashes until 1.21 rolled out and the only thing that changed is what I commented in the first post.

I got crash-dump, I will upload it with save games if you want to take a new look.
I will leave what I had done before crash:

Load save, traveled in travel mode, attack xenon M, destroyed it, save game ok, fly to a nearby station, scanned it, killed a criminal civilian ship, started to travel again, decide to save with quick save, started saving and after 5 seconds, crash to desktop, I just played 10 to 20 minutes or less.

Getting crashes on saves here too. I've narrowed it down on mine if I put turrets on my station. After i do that, saving the game will cause it to crash.

EDIT: Looks like I just can't put them on the Argon S Container Storage. I can put them on other parts of my station, just not them.
