Hi
I have been playing X4 for an hour or two. I know that it is going to take me a while to get into it so I'm not too worried about content right now. I have to ease myself in.
The two glaring issues for me at the moment though are:
- I would like TrackIR. I'm almost finding my neck muscles straining from not being able to look around by looking around. I played a lot of X: Rebirth in VR so having no head movement at all is very frustrating (I know it can be done with the mouse but that's not the same).
- The flight model feels lifeless. I am flying with a HOTAS and there is no feeling of being in a ship in space, being held under control by small thrusters making correctional inputs. I move the stick, the ship moves, I stop moving the stick and the ship stops instantly. A little bit of slow-down time after the input has finished would make the ship feel as though I'd put in an input and then the RCS system is countering that input, quickly but perceptibly. Maybe the amount of that could be an option.
Other than that, I haven't played enough to judge. The one thought that I do keep having is that it appears that Egosoft may have done in a couple of years what Cloud Imperium Games have taken 6 years to achieve. I know that you can't land on planets in X4, but everything else feels very similar but more polished.

Re: Things I would like to see: TrackIR & better flight model
I`ve been flying every day since Saturday (so a fair few hours put in). I have no problem with the flight model, you`ll get used to it and it feels pretty `realistic` - You can feel the momentum and inertia that characterises space flight somewhat. Good for this kind of space game.
Hugely agree on TrackIR. I hate feeling like my head is in a neck brace. This game will jump 100% once they implement TrackIr. Good news is they`ve said they wanted to ship with TrackIR but it didn`t make it but they`ll incorporate as soon as they can. I hope it will be very soon, but it`s on the way!

1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

TrackIR is coming, and I fully agree on the flight model. The later basically behaves like a first person shooter in space (or something like the Decent Series...)
You can shut down the flight assists which gives you full drift mode, but that's the other extreme. Somewhere in the middle would be nice, where each input takes a time to chancel itself.

I would like to see is the ability to fine tune my flight sticks better I have the x55 and rudder pedals and no matter how small I make the dead zone there still feel very sluggish and unresponsive my Xbox controller handles better than my flight stick dose.

Yes to TrackIR. I love using that in Elite.

Turn off Flight Assist. You will see a big difference in space flight. Feels more real and more chellenging.Razorbeast wrote: ↑Thu, 6. Dec 18, 12:03 Hi

Maybe that`s why i don`t have an issue. I turned off flight assist right at the start... I always check my options first and play longer than 2 hours before making assumptions.

I would like to see trackir support too. Despite being affirmed on video record, its apparently a secondary consideration for Egosoft.Razorbeast wrote: ↑Thu, 6. Dec 18, 12:03 Hi

For me, its a gamebreaker. I havent played a flight game without it in maybe a decade.
As far as the flight model goes i would love to get a chance to try it, but at the current rate, given that my buying X4 depends on trackir support, my enthusiasm will likely wane before i get a chance to buy the game.
Too many other good flight games out there that support trackir out of the box and the new elite dangerous patch will be out soon.

I add my voice to track IR support, although i refunded the game i will consider re-buying it if the game bugs are ironed out, track IR is a great item to have in these types of games.
