Everytime I want to expand, I need to buy the parts for the station or wait for NPC to sell me the part after i confirmed the build. Auto trading would not work because they are not making a profit when i ask them to import to the sector or auto trade Hull parts, claytronics and other parts for PHQ.
Is there a way just to set transports assigned to the station to auto keep a set number of building materials or just keep importing them to the PHQ so i don't have to spend time to manually pre-buying or wait for NPC to supply me when i confirm a build order?
Also, why can't the build order just pull parts from station storage when there isn't enough in build storage? It is so annoying when I need to get parts to the PHQ station storage to the "build storage" 10km away for building.
Cheers
is there a way to keep your build storage well stocked?

I think the intention (and i could be 150% wrong here) is that build storage is only the temporary construction pier while said station is under construction. Couldnt you just build a storage and keep it full of parts?
I havent tried yet; all my building has been as I needed another module...

I second this. I nthe build menu, we should get a checkbox "use station materials for build". I have a complex that produces hull parts and claytronics, and I have to sit there and manually tell a freighter to "transfer wares with station", load up mats,then "transfer wares with build storage" and unload them. I started out with a mercury, but it was so immensely tedious, I forked over some 6m to buy a L cargoship, just to save me from going mad. The worst part of this is, yes, I had to do way less clicks and menu fiddling, but the L ship is SO FREAKING SLOW due to poor docking AI, travel mode nonsense, and only 10 cargo drones which still take ~7-8 minutes to load/unload the freighter each transfer. X:R had a "trade for construction" command, please re-add this.

Code: Select all
<do_if value="$tempoffer.buyer.isclass.buildstorage">
<!-- Make buildstorage offers more likely to be chosen -->
<set_value name="$tradevalue" exact="[300000, $tradevalue + 300000].max"/>
</do_if>
I don't have any way of testing it, but I would try setting it to auto trade.. Could probably lock it to the sectors where your stations are, block NPC traders, set high buy order pricing.

The construction ships are listed with 50m³ cargo capacity. So would assume they can't trade to save their lives, unless they somehow use a different mechanic.

Build storage is there because there is no station storage before the first container is build. Once that is build. It can still pull from build storage first as long as there are parts inside. But it should not stop you from pulling parts from regular station storage once they are build. Build storage also only allow up to 2 ships to unload at the same time if my observation is correct, I get this long queue of transports *docking* at station storage which is just a spot in space near the station
The lack of supply/buy offer function just delays things. I know i will need these parts later. Makes no sense why can't i just order the station to get 5k claytronic and 15k hull parts and the station then tell it's assigned traders to get them. Having to manually tell my 20 transports to buy 1 ship at a time then drop it off at the station 1 ship at a time is a lot of button clicks reduce fun from the gameplay experience that can be avoided. Could this be something that can be modded in? Your station creates buy offer jobs when it lack parts to build or running low on resources for your factories.
Another problem when I am forced to manually buy parts for my station. You can select multiple ships and give orders, but you can't tell 20 transports all to fill their cargo with 1 type of commoditie with 1 command. When you select them go go to the buy page, it only has 1 ship selected.
Is there a way to make a wing and it treat their combine cargo space as 1 so u can fill the entire fleet with 1 type of commodity or as much as that 1 station has?

I fear there is not. I would have liked the same for M-sized mining ships, so they act as a fleet. But currently, fleets only (loosely) stay together and (sometimes) fight together. The whole thing very much still needs improvement. But I'm sure ES will address it once game breaking bugs are mostly out.FlutterRAGE wrote: ↑Fri, 7. Re: is there a way to keep your build storage well stocked?
also build storage doesn't hold materials exceeds for some reason. After building is done it seems like it just erase all exceed materials. When I order new stuff to be built and it requires mats, NPC ships immediately reserve those requirements, I transfer funds needed and wait.
But if I also delete some station parts the dismantling takes time and some materials appear in build storage when it's done. Nevertheless the ordered materials is still on its way and the estimated price doesn't change. But after everything is done, there never was any leftover in build storage. Always empty.

When I manually transferred materials with freighters, I had left-overs in my storage, they did not magically disappear. But the AI only set buy offers for exactly as much as you need, and maybe it sells of materials after deconstruction?
