First I'm not mad. I was, this morning but not anymore.
So, I have a save that's 6:01:17 old I assume more than 6 days old? I spent nearly half of that in SETA. Yay. I became "captain of industry" just now, I own almost every production plant. Apparently I own -1 Stations somehow. Let's not mind the small details. And I have 440 million net worth. Kind of a wall of text. Apologies.
And here goes:
- SETA, where are you SETA that is the question. Method of obtaining? Kill Enemy! What enemy? Nothings is being built by the enemy! Oh.... well... kill those drone thingies maybe you get lucky. My answer to that: Fluff You!
- I explored almost every sector and I explored them almost completely. Until scouts can actually SCOUT I leave it at that. No way i'm gonna comb everything myself for the last portal to take me to the last sector I need to complete my galaxy map and get the achievement for it. All resources on the matter over the interwebz have less sectors than I do.
- My universe is dead.
But what do I mean by dead? Simple! The Enemy AI builds nothing. Every now and then they materialize transporters into existence with whatever materials they need. Of course only the Xenon. Of course I explored all of their sectors completely. I even put satellites in some of them. I KNOW that they do nothing. I KNOW they spawn units. I KNOW those units spawn materials.
Here's how I KNOW: I was destroying a station and a Xenon miner just spawned on top of the building stockpile, super quickly docked and unloaded stuff. Right in front of me. Then left out of normal radar range. Except I had/have an advanced satellite there. It parked, chilled out there for a while and then returned again to unload stuff again. Rinse and repeat 2-3 times can't remember how many rounds I just stared at my screen speechless.
Khaak does nothing. They sit in their starting system with 1 station some tiny ships some laser turrets and that's it. I discovered them 2 hours into the game. Since then they did nothing. BTW why are they starting off in a sector with an infinite amount of FOF mines hostile to them?
- My universe cheats.
It is impossible to depose enemy presence from their already existing positions, thanks to the "Station Plot" system. Which has no function of taking over essentially granting ownership of whoever gets a piece of land permanent ownership. Thanks to this I had to put 100 satellites around the IMPENETRABLE resource stockpile used for building things.
- My units are r*******.
In order to destroy a station you can under no circumstances be in the same sector. This is because of the modular nature of stations. This means that your units, no matter how angry you get, will continue firing on the central module of the base you want to destroy. Even if the module actually already blown up thus making this impossible. You have to stare at the map to see damage happening a sector away and plopping a satellite nearby otherwise the station just super regenerate or insta regenerate. You also have to deploy laser towers to kill drones that spawn infinitely, without regards to costs or reserves. Because your units will mindlessly attack the station only. This is why the aforementioned Xenon miner could land and unload stuff. Yes this happened to me. Not hearsay. Yes it made me mad.
- My universe turns coat too often.
Sometimes pirates destroy my stuff. Not real pirates, but units that instantly change factions for whatever reasons. This is also something I KNOW to be true. Also happened right in front of me. My trader got attacked by a Scale Plate Pirate Destroyer so I went there to exact revenge. Except it changed to Teladi Destroyer but it was still red. I attacked it so it changed to Ministry of Finance Destroyer. Of course sector security came to exact revenge. They died. Then it changed Paranid "whatever faction" Destroyer. Then after I destroyed its extremities, during my boarding action which did not start until I actually switched to the transport ship carrying my marines via teleport to manually start it from there, some Ministry of Finance ships came and nuked it into yesterday. Fun times.
- My ships are neutered.
So, I built my first Destroyer, Argon type. Its main cannons are a joke. I would rather take similarly sized autocannons or laser cannons I'm sure even M size autocannons do more DPS. It's turrets wont even show up in the GUI let alone do ANYTHING at all. It also keeps doing fighter style maneuvers for whatever exotic reason. All in all wasted resources. To take down a single Xenon Defense installation they had to shoot it for 4-5 hours straight in SETA. 1 Destroyer ARGON. 10 M class Corvettes PARANID types. 10 S class Heavy Fighters PARANID types. 4-5 hours of constant fire all outfitted with autocannons and lasers, I even tried torpedoes to no avail their damage was a joke. All while laser turrets keep the repair drones at bay. The base had no defenses but I would have lost that fleet if it had, since the AI does not shoot back. I scrapped that fleet and decided to build my station instead. I can do better with that money than flush it down an impossible drain.
-My station is an UtterClusterFluff.
So it spawns in during the quest. It has its marker inside the gigantic SpaceDragonEggAsteroid rendering the station utterly useless if the player is present in the system resulting in collision problems and pathing issues. It also comes with a max sized plot or at least close to that. It is completely centralized so no point having multiple stations there is enough space for everything and everyone. So I did. I built everything so far. Will see if shipyard modules exist when I get 1 more lvl in Argon standing. But I am completely self sufficient.
Yet I can't transfer cargo to my building storage platform and it refuses to use MY HULLPARTS. MY ENERGY CELLS. MY CLAYTRONICS. So it still costs exorbitant amounts of money. And my minions aren't keen on transferring them by themselves either. SO I would have to do it by micromanagement. No thanks. I just fork over the moolah even though I shouldn't have to.
The storage modules seem to do nothing besides increasing an arbitrary display number at the bottom of the screen in one of the views, they do not increase actual storage capacity of actually processed goods.
The price of Habitat module blueprint. Like really. The price of Habitat module blueprints. I said it twice cause its important!
Once you slave traders and miners to the station, you have no control over what they mine and what they sell, whether they should be buying or selling stuff. I'm pretty sure in X3 you could set exclusive traders and buyers even after slaving them to stations. Basically the game simply updates the trading profile of your trader to everything that you produce or need or need mined which is neat if you can't be bothered. Bad when you want to set specific units to specific roles. I just call them HQ slaves.
The method of acquiring WORKFORCE is not explained, nor is the benefit of having them in large and preferably larger quantities. The Slaved traders do not buy food, they do not buy medical supplies either, requiring micromanagement or
self sufficient production, also you can set buy orders only after you have functioning production lines for these which is stupid and counter intuitive. Not only that but you can sell all your reserves and you end up losing workforce since there are no sell or buy caps for wares when it comes to players.
Researching is a joke. Nuff said.
Buy and sell orders for NPC stations are always low thus there are often situations where traders leave with 10 or 1 of some ware. it is infuriating when I see earning reports of 32 credits.
NPC factions build useless stations without feeding workers, without material income, without logic, seemingly randomly. My claytronics is profitable though. My simulation is slowing down though.
If you read this all the way here, thank you. I needed to went and make it understood that I do not feel like I got my 50 eurobucks worth. I would apreciate if an actual developer came out apologized to everyone and told us when can we expect the game to be fully functional at the least.
Now the speculation: Due to everything above and the placement of enemy sectors IE behind large friendly fleets and easily defended jumpgates, interplanetary ion storms, and impenetrable infinity minefields is where the enemy factions reside. I feel like this is deliberate to give the AI time to build up while the player battles the elements, attrition, and chokepoints. Or the complete opposite to give players breathing room. Not sure. Kinda cheaty. I am also fairly certain that faction AI is deliberately turned off most likely cause its not ready. Every other issue points to a not ready product. And AI is brainded, therefore it's initialization is likely commented out somewhere. Can't really comment on galactic trade and whether it is a functioning economy. The NPC does not go to actual real war on its own, so all demand seems to come from its prolific station building fetish.
All in all I wanted to immerse myself yet this is all I've got. I will be back in a few months time, maybe this will be functioning by then. Make no mistake. I like the IDIEA and VISION behind the game. But the execution makes me want to grab a pitchfork.

I wont comment on other things but i will just say this. Xenon ships are absolutely not spawned . I dont know what u saw but there are other possibilities. One, there are these deep space ships which warp to the player’s position. They are built but warp so may seem like it is spawned. Another possibility could be if the ship was built at the station, undocked and then docked again because of threat of attack

Re: Lemme rant as well!
My Xenon shipyards just produce the occasional power distribution S model ships every so often and nothing with any real combat power. It's kind of sad. I'm thinking of turning in my nova and getting a miner and joining my mining fleet eating their erroneous drops and selling those.BlackRain wrote: ↑Thu, 6. I believe all ships are built but my game doesn't create enough demand to keep a production effort running. Silicon is backed up and the only ore plant worth anything is one in the reach which seems perpetually empty for some reason.

sometime last night i began to lose patience, not beceause i dont like the devs or the series, but because we were getting the cold shoulder. evidently some mods and devs have been more responsive while ive been working.....but i have yet to see the fruit of their work, or any acknowledged and planned issues.Arze wrote: ↑Wed, 5. I too have similar issues to the OP to the point I really don't want to play it anymore until later.
But I feel like I must will myself to play it due to dropping £40 on it.....

Re: Lemme rant as well!
With all the recent frustration of even doing a building mission that does not complete (that's the needle that broke the camel's back) I'm taking a break as well. This game is far from fun with all the issues OP listed on top of the many, many more that was not. This year has turned into fluff hell. Pathfinder Kingmaker, Bards Tale 4, Fallout76 and now X4. It's like all the devs from all these companies got together and decided to just fluff their mouths and not even play their own game. I mean seriously, you CAN'T avoid these issues playing any of these games even casually. Yet this year seem to be the norm of DEVS just going dumb and not caring. If they did, they would have been embarrassed and deeply ashamed of releasing these titles that were FAR from ready.
