1.21 QUERY Please explain odd gpu utilisation - Resolved, particle effects

So an i7 6700k @4.8 Ghz 32 Gb DDR4 @ 2666Mhz 2x EVGA gtx 1080 FTW in Sli my main display is 3840 x 2160 so I had to turn some settings like AA, glow and SSAO off when the game came out to keep a stable frame rate of 60 fps. Any ways since patching I noticed my Gpu is using a lot of its clock speed like it's only going to 1200-1300Mhz with 50% load when i can boost to 2100Mhz at full load.

So I decided to crank the settings back up to get my load to 100% so i could tweak settings and keep stable frame rates, so i turned AA, glow and SSAO back on frame rates were fine flat 60 then i noticed a few drops over time ram and CPu use fine so I decided to turn the settings down one at a time to tweak them and get better frame rates.

In the end I turned AA, glow and SSAO off totally again but there was zero effect of frame rate of GPU use. So i'm left wondering what happened between my having them off, turning them back on then off again. :lol:

Does the oddness survive a save/reload sequence, or a game exit/restart?

i've just reloaded and i've found the cause I believe ...

The Ice/ Methane field in Inanimus Zura IV is causing it nothing to do with settings it's the particle effects :lol:

Just went out of render range and there are no frame dips or extra GPU usage.
