Re: 4Players.de Review
They aren't wrong on the critical points of the game, though. We (or at least I) can probably only enjoy it, because I find joy seeing my money meter go up in the skies. But not everyone is like I am.
You probably also see the beauty in this game for some reason.
Anyway, it is now up to Egosoft to finetune it and let X4 also become a gem for many others.

Re: 4Players.de Review
I agree with that. Especially the line "X4: Foundations feels much more like a successor to the offshoot than it would continue the tradition of great predecessors." (translated I know). I was concerned last year that it looked more Rebirth 2 than an X3 sequel. While it is better than Rebirth, it is indeed more of a successor to that.
I really struggle to like it or have any desire to play it and I'm not sure if its ever something that can be patched. It feels like the core design choices are what I don't like and I think major changes like that are beyond the scope of patches or even expansions. Maybe a total conversion mod could do it but it will be years untill one of those come out.

Re: 4Players.de Review
While X4 is the next messed up release after Rebirth this article is whats called a "Verriss" in german, an intentional scorcher.
The "reviewers" intention seems to be to review the game as bad as possible.
Again, dont get me wrong - X4 is definatly another widely unfinished product from Egosoft, but that doesnt justify a review with pure ill intend. At least trying to be objective would be better.

Re: 4Players.de Review
In a weird way, its also looking worse than rebirth in some areas. The stations have less going on than rebirth stations (which acted like cities), the range of weapons appeared to be better, bigger ships (plus range of ships), more visually defined sectors, and better use of drones.
The good stuff from XR goes missing for X4, while the best stuff from X3 appears to be barely present in X4, all this results in X4 having little of what both did well.
At the very least you can claim ships from pilots bailing out, but thats about it.

Considering that X4 is a sandbox game that has a sandbox which doesn't work I'd say their score is justified. By giving X4 a rating of 33% they acknowledge that it's clearly better than Rebirth which only received 16% at the time http://www.4players.de/4players.php/dis ... birth.html
