Ever blown up ships you wanted to jack without the crew ever jumping ship?
Here’s a helpful solution to that!
2 Ion Blasters from Argon With Ripper/Bolt Guns in a heavy fighter/corvette
The Ion blaster always shows it does a TON of damage but doesn’t, to the hull it does under 1% damage! When it comes to the shield though, 2-3 shots will burn the shield from 100% to 0%!
So what about the hull/modules?!? That’s what ripper/Bolt turrets are for! They will burn through any module with 2-3 rounds!
But what about getting shot? Hide on the rear right behind the engines match speed and strafe just enough to blow a turret or module off and jump back! Fire your ion shot on the hull every so often to prevent repairs and shield regen! Then when you blow off ALL the modules and slowly get the health Down to 50% or so watch the escape pods start flying! Then send the marines!
Same concept for small ships but instead of module stripping hammer them to about10% or less and use the ion blasters to tap them lovingly and encourage them to jettison and run!
Set the Rippers/Bolt guns and ion blasters on primary and Ion Blaster only on secondary!
(This also works well on lock boxes!)

A few questions!
1) By Ripper/Bolt guns, is that the projectile machine guns? (because I love those weapons)
2) Let me get this right, since Ion guns do hardly any damage, they destroy lockboxes slower?

1) yes projectiles in shield are bull, BUT on hull are amazballs
2) Yes because locks only take 1 hit which means lock boxes can take a couple hits before dying away (i tested last night and missed a few times on a lock but I also double blasted it each time so a single shot may allow a few more hits (MAY)

This combo actually works REALLY WELL! I capped a Minotaur first try with this loadout!
Dunno what the Minotaur is good for though... It seems a bit under gunned to me with 2X Fixed and 2X Turrets. But with their current state, less turrets are better, I guess...

I always seem to get blown up within 30 seconds by missles when i try this. Using a nova vanguard, i think its a missle that hits me and i just instantly get blown up. Even when hiding right behind the rear engines of the ship. I try releasing flares and its worked once but i only have one flare...so a very short while after using it, full sheilds and hull to dead instantly. What am i doing wrong?

Get behind and make sure you are not to high/low so the hull blocks the turrets.
Also scan beforehand and choose a cap hat doesn't have missiles or less.

@OP I guess you never played X:Rebirth, because this was a very well known tactic to cap large ships there
Works very well.
As for capital ships with missiles in X4... yes they are a super big pain in the ass, as the 'missile defence' mode on turrets is currently rubbish.
Only way I've found of safely taking over a capital in X4 that is stocked to the brim with missiles is to use heavy torpedoes at a very long range so that it can't fire missiles back at you. First you disable its engines with 1 torp, then move to 12km away and inspect the hull elements for missile launchers. Then fire torps at all of them until they are destroyed. At that point you maybe can move in to closer range and shoot the rest of the surface elements, or just continue with the torps.
