Hi guys, im new to the X' series and i like playing X4 so far. BUT, im starting a mining empire (7 mining ships so far) and i cant see the end of it. I mean, i could snowball this and not worry for money after, thats my guess. But wheres the fun of it?
Im i wrong to say its becoming easy? Can we just auto-mine forever without depleting asteroids?
Where should i stop building mining ships? after 20? 100? 500?
thx for youre 2 cents
Game too easy?

I'm guessing (pure speculation) that too many mining ships will saturate the economy with that item and it will be hard to sell for much of a price (if there are any buyers at all).
Game balance is something that can be easily tweaked. After some of the high nuisance bugs are ironed out, I would look for them to start making those kinds of changes.

Its true, IF the economy is what the dev's said its suppose to be, the mining thing will be profitable short to medium term. Well see!SamuraiProgrammer wrote: ↑Mon, 3. Silicon. Liquid mining. Trading energy cells. All easy. The question was "Is the game easy". If you trade in just one thing you still make a profit just because you can sell so much of it. Diversity makes it faster. Either way it still leads to "Oh look, I have a fleet and I meet 7 enemies at most". Compare that to TC where you can get hard missions with ten fighters and a capital ship in the early game.SamuraiProgrammer wrote: ↑Mon, 3. Re: Game too easy?
Ive tapped out Argon Prime for Silicon, price per run dropped from 75k down to 45k and I've sent my silicon miners out to other sectors. Price continues to drop several hours after I stopped mining silicon, AI is still mining. AP is still ore-starved with 8 ore miners running, though.
I think the problem is that, at least in my start, the economy started out starved for basic resources, but with little consumption of top-tier final products (aside from hull plating, apparently). So there's a big hole in the basic resource production choking off the intermediates, which in turn chokes off the final products. You start supplying the base resources, or the AI makes more miners, and the intermediates start cranking out, filling the end product factories. However, the end product factories eventually fill up due to low demand, then that backs up the intermediates, which causes the base resources to fill up.
It may be that in my save there is very little station building and faction warfare going on, making the demand for top-tier products low.

In prior X games, like X3 for example, I only had a few mining ships, maybe 10-15.... and I had a fleet of like 30-40 trade ships that would just hop around the sectors supplementing the NPC traders. I was making cash from the buying and selling, but also pushing the economy forward a lot quicker with all my ships having good trade software, and jump drives. They would buy anything, and supply anything, that was a good price. I like to think I was helping move basic resources to basic products, to mid range products, to top end products, that all were getting used through-out the far reaches of the universe.
as for being too easy, guess it depends on what you like to do. I like to play the benevolent overlord, who keeps the economy running smoothly, and sectors largely free of benign influences like khaak and xenon, and from time to time, go and reset the xenon or khaak sectors with a massive war fleet. to each their own...
