I cant use the Joystick's (TM Warthog) Coolie Hat to look around while in the pilot's seat.
It is correctly mapped because I can use it while walking.
Mouse and numpad are working for head movement fine.

You're not alone there. The hat switches aren't reading correctly for a few functions, as far as I can tell. For instance, I have the Trim hat bound to view controls and that doesn't work, the coolie hat is bound to strafing but won't function in 8 way mode.
You MIGHT be able to get around it by using Target software to translate the Coolie hat into key presses.

Never used target. Does it also translate to mouse axis?
Because numpad and freelook via mouse are two different things.
As mentioned, while walking the trim hat pov works as it should, like the mouse...

I've never tried binding axis translation in Target, but it's in there. In my case, I bound the Coolie hat to keyboard presses and that gave me 8-way functionality for strafing.
I'm almost certain you can get numpad look functionality working on one of the hat switches by binding it to keyboard presses.
If you want a crash course in Target GUI, let me know. We can jump on Discord or something. (Send me a PM)

Strange thing is, that the command is there when you're in platform movement. Only thing is that sitting in your ship somehow blocks the hat input.
Why would it work "here", but not "there"

Speaking of joysticks, have any of you had this problem? Thanks!
When in platform/FP mode, I cannot use the usual button on my joystick (T.Flight HOTAS 4) to select/use. In the platform controls menu, I see no way to bind this function. Am I missing something? I always need to use a different button than is for select in other cases (I think button 3).

Re: 1.20 Jostick Hat View
I have been having trouble getting Hotas 4 Thrustmaster to work at all with this game. I was able to get it to work with using the default joystick profile but since they deleted the old profile now I can't get it to work. Anybody know of a workaround?

Re: 1.20 Jostick Hat View
I gave up on using the coolie hat to change the view. I setup a profile in Voice Attack and using it now for almost all commands including the view commands. Works like a charm.
Voice Attack is inexpensive at $10.00 U.S. I use it with a lot of games. I started with Elite Dangerous and have also setup profiles in Fallout 4, Skyrim SE, Borderlands, The Division, Warframe and others. Well worth the $10.00. Just google it.

The new PC I just built for myself:
i5-13600k, 32GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3060 12GB
It'll do until I can upgrade the graphics card.
