Mining empire
So, I was setting myself up to have a mining empire.
I don't have yet a station of my own, but it would have come in due time. So right now All I want is basically just have my ship mine for me ( 2 medium, 1 small ) and sell the ore to those that need the ore right now.
Thing is, Is there a way to set them up to do a loop in their orders? Like say "mine silicon in X area" then once full "Trade with x Station" then resume the first order? since well, I can manage 3 ships, but again, I want to do a mining empire and I don't see myself do that for 50+ ships.
And trying to search the forum ( which is somehow very slow in responding ) didn't found me any solution to make my mining ships do their thing on their own.

Re: Mining empire
Yes, there is auto-mining. Click on a miner -> ship information -> behavior (tab) -> auto mine. Select maximum range and click on "confirm". When the cargo of your miner is full he will sell his cargo and then go back to mining. You can also just click on the ship then right-click on the map and give the command "mine in sector x". But sometimes you may want to give him another command and you may forget to send him back to mine so you should definitley set his default behavior to auto-mine.

Re: Mining empire
You will need at least a level 1 captain to set default behavior to automine
You don't talks about X:Rebirth...

Thank you, found about the behavior. Although, when I did the change, once they got full... They didn't go and try to sell their wares right away. For some reasons? I had to manually tell all my mining ships to go sell. However, I did gave them the default behavior when they were already mining, so maybe it was a little bug there. So trying to make them sell their cargo right now and see if they will go and mine, then return to sell their stuff.
That said ,I don't see your alternative, about selecting then right clicking the map. I dont see the "mine in sector" I only see "mine" then you choose what to mine. Unless that's what you meant?

Re: Mining empire
Ah i know where the problem is. There is a part of the behavior tab where you can set the default behavior and above that you can see and edit the current orders. Delete them all. The ship will then do what is listed under default behavior. It is how it behaves when it has no orders.
Your auto-miners need a station in range that buys the ore they mine. If you told them to mine Nividium then they will just drop it or do nothing.

Right, now they are auto mining at least. and I've set them to only mine silicon. and tehre is a silicon refinery so they theorically should sell the said ore. Thanks again. o/ Would have never found that tab myself xDMarcov wrote: ↑Mon, 3. Dec 18, 21:57 Ah i know where the problem is. Re: Mining empire
Welp. So I managed to have them mine on their own... But they are not selling on their own :I
Like see this one's cargo is full.

Yet he doesn't have an order update to go sell his stuff at the nearby station that can actually buy silicon

What am I missing there?
Edit: Just as I post this reply, the first thing I notice is both my medium miner dropped some of their haul? then only ONE of them suddenly got the "execute trade"
Then like a minute later, the second one finally does the same. The automatic process takes that long?

Just taking a huge guess not based on anything but do you have satellites at the stations you want to sell to so they can see the BO?

Doesn't look he is using sats to update the orders. It's a similar system to trade agents on every station like in Rebirth.

Thanks guys for the good information. The satellite story is important and easily overseen!

Re: Mining empire
Interestingly, I've run into the same problem with my Miner not selling...she just asks what to do when she's full.
However, I do have a satellite network, so where to sell is available, she's also three star, so can auto-trade - which is her default behaviour.
I've just issued a manual sell command for her, so we'll see if she goes back to automining afterwards. Hopefully she'll eventually sell if she does.
I think I've done everything correctly, but sometimes it's uncertain whether you're doing something wrong or experiencing a glitch lol. I'm sure ES will iron things out.
Edit: Also, I notice that despite having ample Resource Probes dotted around to highlight the best area, my Miner picks the single worst spot to do its mining. I manually sent it to the highest yield spot before, but though that manual interaction may have disrupted the auto-selling.
Scoob.

You might also wanna increase the max gate distance, so they can go sell the stuff if they can't do it in-system.

Re: Mining empire
I noticed that one of my miners (Crane Mineral) who mines silicon in Eighteen Billion and that has a range of 1 gate is trying to sell in Grand Exchange. Now one would think he will fly through South Gate but ... nope he is taking the long route via Hatikvahs Choice and Argon Prime to get to Grand Exchange...
PS: did anyone else notice that miners drop some of their cargo when full and go sell?

Re: Mining empire
Did you install patch 1.1?
You should command them to auto-mine only 1 ressource or they have to fly to 2 different stations to sell their cargo and this could mess up with their behavior. Also, you should definitely increase the maximum sell and fly range to at least 4. Very often a station only buys/sells a low amount of a specific ressource. You can see how much they buy/sell if you move over with your mouse on the price without clicking on the number.

I have 17 solid miners mining silicon and ore and 3 gas miners mining Hydrogen, Helium and Methane. Works fine

Yeah its what Playbahnosh said...
By the screenshot we can see you told him to jump 0 sectors from the max 24 so if he cant sell in system you told them to not Jump to look at other sectors!!!
