extensions game not loading

Hi All.

I have place an "extensions" folder in the root directory but game wont start or run at all.

Without extensions folder the game runs as normal, so how do you get the extensions folder/mods to work if the game wont start with the folder in places.

Have had no problem with extensions/nods in X3R so i do know how it should work though it's not working in X4.

Some help please.

Works fine for me. Do you get any debug errors?

For the debug log to show in your document folder (where the save folder is) you need to add -logfile debuglog.txt to the exe. You do that wither via Steam settings or create a shortcut to the X4.exe and then add this command parameter.

I am getting the same issue.
But only with the folder, if I use loose files everything works fine (another reason why I think loose is better)

Not sure if this is related to your problem at all, but some people reported having issues getting mods to work in the X4 root directory but were able to get them to work by placing the 'extensions' folder into '...\Documents\Egosoft\X4\####\' where #### is some random number. So you'd have, for example:

C:\Users\BillGates\Documents\Egosoft\X4\90210\extensions\improvedrepairlaser

instead of:
D:\Games\X4 Foundations\extensions\improvedrepairlaser


If you do this, I'd recommend deleting the root extensions folder after you move everything out of it. I don't know that anything bad would happen from having extensions in two different places, but I know nothing good will happen.

Thanks for replies i'm beginning to notice a lot of other posts from numerous places on this issue and most say place the extensions in the user folder though some work this way some don't.

Though we are told or the norm is the place the extensions in the game directory and it works there for some, we now we get info to place in user folder and it works there for others, it seems that both options are acceptable.

Thanks to you all for you assistants, comments and links etc in this mater.

Have now fixed my issue as extensions are working for me in the Doc's/x4/(numbered folder)

Any one else having the same issue try extensions in both game and doc's one or other may work, if still having issue contact support ? if they are interested they haven't got back to me about this yet.

Documents with # is for the Steam version I think.

I have moved my mod to games folder as above. Game shows the extension and it is on. But no changes are happening.
I tried making a copy of wares file and changed the price of trader wares just to see if it was working, but no change in the game. No errors showing in log file.
It is located in libraries folder in extension folder. Any ideas what else to try?

Sorry, moved it to the user folder. When it was in the x4 foundations folder, I was getting errors about invalid sig files in log. How do you create a sig file?

I did say it it seems that both options are acceptable sorry i didn't say chose the one that works for you.

Stardog: (Good handle) I'm sure that when steam fires up with mods they may go into the game folder, though it's hard to say at this time, well with the extensions working for me and a few others in the Doc folder this game is not forming to the normal run of thing like X3R.

It's a game Jim but not as we know it.
