Here is the full article. (It includes three screen shots.)

X2: The Threat
Oh, we know all about threats from exes. Restraining orders? Pah.

We famously gave X:Beyond the Frontier a bit of a pasting (PCG 75, 37%), but were not so cold hearted as to deny Egosoft the chance to set things right with the next instalment in their ambitious space-combat-and-trading-so-it's-like-elite series.
X2's story is set some 20 years after the events of X2:Beyond the frontier although the game's focus remains on personal betterment through trade, combat and dangerous missions. You can steer away from trade in favour of bounty-hunting missions if you prefer, or construct a semi-automated business empire, complete with factories and your own trade routes, using the powerful AI editing tools that enable subsiduary ships to look after themselves. As you progress the universe expands, introducing you to five more or less friendly races and bands of space pirates, with whom you can make friends or enemies as you see fit.
The 'Threat' of the title refers to a new, technologically advanced race who seem determined to blow up all that's good and holy in the X2 Universe. As the hero of the story, it's up to you to defeat the invading baddies, although in true 'Privateer' fashion, the pace of the story depends on your own actions. Most promising aspect? The fact that Kieron's gripes about the original seem to be ironed out. This could be a major hit.

Well, we can only hope. Not that optermistic, but at least it's some good news. Thanks for the post
some who deserve life receive death. Others who deserve death receive life. Can you give it to them? Don't be eager to deal out death in judgement, for not even the wise can see all ends.

How could anyone EVER give the first X-BTF only 37%?????

Even if you didn't like the game, and only played for 5 minutes, you had to give it more then that for the music and graphics alone.

Jesus, I didn't realise that was the score given.

I know that magazines often down-grade games that they are not sent a copy of by the publishing company, as they think the company has something to hide, and they have to buy their own copy.

I would give the freelancer demo a better score then that, and the X-BTF demo was amazing!!!

Then again, PC-Zone gave Unreal 2 an 8 page review and a score of 94%. What a joke.

37% is a joke, They judged a book by its cover on that.
Come watch me on Twitch where I occasionally play several of the X games

I think so too. For a moment I thought I had misread the number... .

It would be interesting to see a copy of the mag to find out which games received a top rating  i cant remember what games were out then but i am sure i was playing Homeworld when i discovered the XBTF demo,
perhaps the reviewer compared XBTF to HW and was the RTS click type of player rather than a joystick player (which i prefer) i still havn't finished HW 8)

Unreal 2 is rubbish after all that time there is nothing new in it that isn't in other games.

£7% for X-btf and did they miss X-tension. PC-Zone have always been in very biased in their game reviews.
