When first playing X4, I found that a lot of controls were bound to various analog device inputs arbitrarily. I've had to remove these in order to (for example) get the map to not drift just because I have a joystick plugged in.
However, I am using a joystick for flight, and this is causing a problem when I try to select things with the mouse while in flight. It seems that the game is either in one input mode or the other. Meaning when I move the joystick, the mouse cursor is frozen. I then have to move the mouse a fair bit in order to get it to switch modes and "wake up".
The problem is that once this happens, the ship's attitude begins to drift rather rapidly. Even though my joystick is centered and not in use. This is unacceptable because I need the ship to stay where I pointed it so I can select things properly with the mouse. But as soon as I begin using the mouse, everything starts drifting, making mouse selection rather hard.
Can someone please acknowledge this as a bug and place it in the fix queue. It really needs attention.

Re: Drift problem with analog inputs
Turning off gamepad mode will make the whole input switching, drifting thing go away

Re: Drift problem with analog inputs
omg you are a life saver! this was driving me nuts too. Aim at target, use mouse to select menu, ship drifts away, lose aim and the menu i was navigating as well. pfew, this is much better now!
