[Request] XCommander a GUI tool like Total Commander

Hello,

I think the current management of missions, crew members, equipment, logs and information has a bad UX. It's spread around a lot of menus. Transferring stuff or people from ship to ship or ship to station is very complicated. I'm not sure if my idea is something a mod can do but I would like to discuss the idea of Xcommander. This should be a GUI tool similar to total commander, freecommander, speedcommander etc. You have various tabs to manage your daily tasks in X4. I see the tabs as kind of different views which people can customize and adapt to there needs. So the community can release new tabs (views) for it.
Most of them are a tree structure like most of you know from the windows explorer.

I made a basic mock-up with paper and pencil. sorry for by bad hand writing.

Is aims to fulfill at least these tasks:
  • - Trade between ships on the same station or even if they are on different stations.
    - If ships are on different stations: After you set what they should exchange you set a meeting point on the map where they will meet. Also an auto negotiating about the meeting point could happen.
    - Trade between ships and stations
    - Hire crew members from current station and from the whole galaxy (transfer needs to be organized)
    - Transfer crew members between ships
    - Read the X4 wiki on two windows so you can compare stats of ships, weapons etc
    - Easy access to logs
    - Manage your mission
    - Command your ships more easily

The tabbing sounds like a good idea, but where goes the map?

i really like the map, despite she needs some polishing.

Everything could be opened in the tab, even Functions like the wiki and objects.

But the object list on the map needs to stay on the map, it show all objects in the current visible area.

We should add that to the feedback page at the wiki and as mod request...

Maybe you could get the objects lists of the current map view in a tab or as a main tree. So in my mock-up you could add it to my first tab called "my_stuff" Rename it to something else then.
e.g.

Tab 1
- my stations
- my ships
- objects in current view

Since the X Games were always more of a "Space Empire Management Simulator" I always wanted to have more of an office style workflow and presentation of information, just for the management aspects of the Game. For example, filter and sortable Tables/Sheets,Tabs, Charts, resizeable and moveabe windows and so on.

In my oppinion CCP has done a nearly perfect job for EVE regarding this for example.

How ever...

What can be done, or not be done in X4 depends on the tools and depth of access allowed by Ego (UI API) for modders. Sadly my knowledge is not up to date regarding the fileformats, tools and UI API used for X4.

But if its the same as for X:Rebirth there are restrictions an limits regarding changing/adding new visuals like custom presentations, widgets and their behaviors.
