Captured a pirate ship and ...

I captured a pirate Kestrel Sentinel ship and left my beginning Elite Vanguard with the three stars experienced captain I hired. I added both ships to a wing and issued the captain of my original ship an order to defend. The captain followed me for a while and them just stopped and wouldn't continue following me. I'm trying to fly both ships to a station where I plan on hiring a captain for this new ship and getting back into my original ship, but I don't know how I'm going to do that if the experience captain I hired can't bother to follow me.

Any suggestions?

When you click on the Ship you have two panes, left is "Information"(?) right is "Behaviour"(?). In the right pane you see the command queue from the pilot. You can delete command with the little X Button to the right.
Its the Page where on the bottom you can select what to do with Police/Pirates/etc.

I finally got the pilot to follow me to a station and once landed saw that I could tell them to land also. Now I can fly either ship as I had hoped. Thanks
