[IDEA] Allocate cash to traders to avoid ...

Hi

I know traders arent working 100% but i got an idea based of what i saw. My trader sometimes withdraws huge amounts of cash from me only to dump his cargo 1 minute after for instance he bought 700k worth of spaceweed to dump it 30 second later :)

Of course they should be autonomous but it would be great if you could allocate funds to them and this way control the max amount they could squander away :) Could max a amount they could have and autotransfer everything above that to your main account.


Just an idea, i know you guys have plenty of other stuff to think about but might as well mention it :)

Yep, I'd like that too. The system of using player (or home base station) account was working fine with UTs back in X3 and its interface, but with the new UI I'd feel separate accounts would - albeit being yet one more thing to set up - feel more comfortable. At least as long as the UI and logbook feedback (which is sorely lacking) stays as it is now.

Rebirth you would give money to a station manager so the stations had their own account. Traders same deal and had their own account. Profits went to your general wallet. There will likely be a Rebirthesque return of wallet/account handling. Imagine the autotrader mods will also make a return but in a limited capacity to polish the vanilla system which is lacking.

Can really add my support to this. Wasn't there a X3 mod that allowed you to do something like this?

Edit: Oh, and a checkbox to automatically not trade anything that'd be illegal in either pickup, or destination system

From NapalmVFR (viewtopic.php?f=146&t=403958#p4765024):
When an Auto Trade command has been set go to the behaviors tab in the ships information screen, find the Auto Trade order and click the + symbol to the left of the order. You can then remove the wares you don't want the ship to trade in from there by clicking the x against the wares.

Ah yes, I saw that. But IIRC legality of some wares change from system to system. So while that's useful for system trading, it is a small issue for galaxy trading

Well it would be cool to simplify it so that to set a checkmark on illegal wares. So when the autotrader plot in the trade and the route it will check if the wares are illegal in any of the systems that it would be passing, buying or selling in.

This would be truly a great way of handling this. And easy to say the least, perhaps not to code though :)

If the scripting system is anything like X3 I'm pretty sure someone will mod this in the next few days.

If traders were to have their own wallet, what would happen if they die? Will the money get transferred back or will it be lost? :D

Funeral services are pricey. And let's face it: we don't pay a salary to our pilots, we basically buy them as if they were slaves, we can at least offer them dental and funerals :mrgreen:
