So how does the Plot work? How can i activate it?

Hey everyone!

Just came back after all these years to play a X game once again and it is feeling quite good!

What i am unsure about in the new game:
Is there some kind of plot mission i can activate? I chose the "Young gun" setting when starting a new game.

What i did until now (SPOILER WARNING):

I got this mission from a boron scientist when scanning the station at the beginning of the game, which handed me this big "unknown" station. Is this the plot or just some "sidequest"?

There is no plot, the PHQ quest is basically an intro for newbies that gives you a useless station and the outright cheat teleporter.

alright got it. I'll use this thread for another question.

How and where can i hire a builder to build a dock area for this "useless station"? Haven't figured that out yet, because all of the NPCs in all the stations i've visited are labeled as "Crewman". Are those the builders or where can i find personel like in XR?

It means builder ships. The TLs of old, like the Albatross. You basically need either one of your own to transport the station modules, or hire an NPC one. If it's as it was in the past (and I guess it is, but I still didn't verify it, mind me) via comms, when you happen to stumble upon one.
