Scan Stations to 100%

Post by PabloRSA »

Has anyone actually managed to scan a station (shift+2) to 100%

I seem to have scanned about 20 stations so far and have never got one to 100% it always 85-90%, plus it is damn hard to see whats been scanned when they dont change colour or use light/dark grey,
I wish it was all one colour red and changes to green when scanned not these multi colour rainbow like yellow, red, green, purple

Or am I missing something?

I managed to scan one station to 100%. From what I could tell, after many attempts, it seems sections that sections coloured red are military and need the higher powered scanner which is in your EVA suit (If you read the description of the suit scanner it says it can penetrate even military grade shielding)

Either way I got nothing from scanning to 100%, i presumed you would get the station plan or a blueprint but I got nothing.

I have Rebirth but didn't really play it, so I don't understand the colour-coding on the stations.

Does green mean that part is 'known' and red is unscannable with grey meaning still parts to scan? I've no idea...

I'm in the same boat now trying to scan to 100%.
Highest I've gotten is 78%

Have some stations with military parts (red) showing as 100% scan, but they have greyed out parts on them, are these scannable?

I've found just flying around the station gets you to 100% it seems you need to identify (scan?) each module although it doesn't seem to include hab modules.

I've not used the scanner just flown around the station and it updates itself.

Oh, don't you think this was explained in Rebirth :D

One of the reasons why it's harder to scan these stations now is that Egosoft disabled the icons of the infopoints. Guess they were too afraid of the playerbase, because infopoint searching was one of the most dreaded feature of Rebirth. Yet it only s*cked because you had to target the infopoint precisely, the Skunk's scanners couldn't penetrate the station's model.

So now we are left with station scanning but without the needed infopoint indicators.

TBH I have no issues with scanning sections - I just fly near the station surface at 100-200m/s and it scans most of the sections with no issue. Sometimes I have to slow down and look at the center of the part.

My biggest gripe with scanning is that the highlits could be a little more agressive (maybe as your scanned percentage rises?), so it's easier to identify missed parts... I especially hate the wilting gray of connectors that is pretty much the same as unscanned

I'm with you on this one....
It's not if we win or lose that matters, it's that we stood and faced it.
