Hiring a builder !?!?!?

I'm pulling my hair out trying to complete a mission to build a defense platform.

The mission had me go to a location to claim a plot and I did that. While doing that I started the resource gathering for a station and that seems to now be complete. Where I'm stuck is on hiring a the builder.

First I thought I needed to go to an existing station and hire an engineer of someone like that and assign them to the station which is kind of taking shape even though there isn't yet a builder. The problem with this is that I can't hire people for a station which isn't complete.

After I struck out on hiring people at a station, I thought that I might be able to hire a type of ship and it's crew to be the builder but haven't figured out how to do that either.

I'm so confused as to what I do to hire a builder.

hey bro i also had this issue
select your plot then click continue (at the bottom)
this will open the editor where you can build stations etc

at the right (bottom) there is a select builder drop down, if there is no builder ship in the dropdown (what i did) fly near a builder repeat steps above and the builder close to you should appear in the drop down
Then you need to provide the station with funds so they can buy resources OR you can find them yourself and drop them off

ALSO if it does not Start Don’t worry! the builder 1st need to get there and it can take some time!! (depending on how far he is from your plot ofc)
i had the resources sitting there for 10 min while nothing happened, then all of a sudden the builder showed up (i hired him very far away) and it started

Thanks I finally tracked down a builder ship and hired it.

I have one last problem though!

I'm not allowed to add the eight turrets which are needed. The storage module on the new station has turret mounting points, but when I try to add turrets, it doesn't allow me to do it. I'm not sure why I'm not allowed to add the turrets.
