[Suggestion] Export Key Bindings to .csv

Post by Jaga_Telesin »

With everyone customizing their keybindings, it might be nice to have an easier to read/print format for our own sets. I've looked at the format of the original and saved binding sets, and the XML is just too messy to do cleanup on before re-printing every time you make a change.

Opening the xml with a spreadsheet leaves all of the text in there, similarly unhelpful and needing a lot of cleanup.

I've also tried some online xml to csv converters that cleanup the code, but none parse the format quite right.

I realize that some modder somewhere may pick it up and make a 3rd party tool, but an in-game filter to export straight to csv wouldn't be too difficult, and would be easily accessible by everyone (even those not familiar with mods). It would also make it very simple to format the file (font, color, column width, etc) for viewing or printing.

Consider it this pilot's humble request for one of the game's more difficult areas.

I made an Excel worksheet .xlsx with blank key bindings if you would like a copy? I can also export to .csv if you like? I also made one with all the default key bindings from in-game but I'm not convinced that it's accurate even though I clicked on "Restore Defaults". I think maybe I may have overwritten that save game? Not sure. In any case, I can send you what I have, or post it somewhere. I'm a bit of a noob so I'm not sure where I can post it.
