Faction LIcenses?

So I'm wondering, I have ranked up with several factions and have access to licenses like a Police License and Tradder Offer Subscriptions. What do these licenses actually do? There is no information I could find on them.

Police license lets you scan ships without it being a crime, afaik, and it seems like the trade subscription gives you realtime access to trade prices for that faction without having to visit stations over and over again or deploy satellites.

Hrm, I'm not sure that's worth the value then. I mean, the cost of the trade license is roughly the cost of a carrier (Granted, not fitted).

It might be worth it if your UTs use the data and aren't omniscient, especially if you have a horde of them like I usually did in X3.

Also worth noting, Egosoft, if you're listening, there should be tooltips for these licenses. It would help a lot.
