I was busy trying to bring a shieldless, weaponless discoverer to a rift in space with an anti-matter bomb aboard, but every time I undocked from a station, every pirate in the entire sector swarmed me. This happened even when no ships were on sensor range, and continued until I killed every last one of them.
This completely breaks my immersion when it happens, as how can they even see me, let alone scan my cargo from over 50 km away? It's like anti-matter bombs are the sweetest smelling honey to attract spaceflies from miles around.
Can it be changed to the point that pirates who can not see you on sensors will ignore your presence, and pirates that see you on sensors, but aren't close enough to scan your cargo will instead try to move to intercept? The super long range scanning is quite obnoxious.

That specific mission seemed pretty scripted, not sure it's always like that. Nobody wants your 25cr antimatter lol.

Ok, being scripted might explain a few things. I thought it was comical the situation, and they were going after other poeple whenever I landed.
I literally tripped across this mission after only having explored 2 sectors of Black Hole Sun and that's it. I certainly wasn't prepared, nor had I found a single shipyard (Still haven't)
I wasn't prepared for this sort of Spanish Inquisition.

I keep getting un-stuck on this mission, it either bugs out or i am constantly swarmed by pirates/xenon or khaak in the mission area.. frankly after the 5th restart now im close to shelving the game entirely.. very frustrating.

The pirates more or less ignore any ship you fly that either isn't firing at them, or doesn't have anti-matter aboard it.
Attract them with one ship to identify the targets and then land it on the station. Then hop in your fighter and blow them away. Rinse and Repeat till they stop coming.

I basically collected crystals and did Argon missions until I could get a Cerberus before continuing this mission. Then parking it a small way below the rift and undocking the ship I set up for it, flying up a little and finishing it that way.
Else the pirates, and even a Xenon ship one time, will keep destroying the ship if there's no support nearby.
