1.00 No way for Pick Up Drops to be sent to your inventory

Post by Liam7Besnik »

I noticed a problem in version 1.00, English, tutorial game start. When you tell a pilot to pick up drops and the pilot does so, there is no way to access the item that the pilot picked up. If you ask to exchange wares, the drops are not in there as they are personal cargo and not ship cargo.

Correct. Inventory items are personal to you and cannot be exchanged as cargo wares. They can be sold to traders at stations though.

Are you saying that your personal ship picked up some inventory drops by running them over (whoever was piloting it at the time) and that your personal inventory count of those items did not then increase (if there was capacity for the items)?

I saw that regardless if I was in the ship or not that my personal inventory of say, Spacefly eggs, wouldn't increase if I had a pilot pick it up. I do know that if I am piloting the ship, it puts it in my inventory just fine. So by telling a ship to pick up drops in an area would be akin to trash removal where you don't get anything from it. Though, I doubt drops do much to hurt the performance of the game. I haven't seen any drops that would go into the ship inventory, so I don't know if that works or not.

I really would like an answer to this question as well.

It's for anything floating in space actually. If you set the command for an AI controlled ship to "Collect Drops", they go and collect items in sector, but nothing shows up in the player inventory (for personal inventory items) or cargo hold (say if silicon was floating out in space). The items are collected and the game just makes them disappear.

It is when you order a ship with a hired pilot to "Collect Drops" from the map screen and he collects things like spacefly eggs which go into his inventory. I assume they are in that pilot's inventory. Is there any way to get him/her to trade them to me?

Still happening as of patch 1.21 (323477). Been collecting for an hour with myself afk in the ship but not piloting. Not sure if this command is meant to be used for collecting drops like these.

I know this post is old, but this may help someone searching for it in the internet...

YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET THE ITEMS COLLECTED BY YOUR NPC CAPTAINS (al least in v2.60), if you talk to them face to face (and they really have items in their inventories), an option to transfer the items in their inventories to your inventory shall appear. And if you already have the Headquarters station, you can right click on your captain's ship, and there shall be an option "inventory" or something like that, which orders your captain to deposit the items collected in your Headquarters vaul.
Hope this can help anybody.

(sorry for my bad english, and I hope I haven't broken any rules in the forum, because this is my first comment XD)

There is a reason why we ask people not to dredge up old threads. The information in this post is 18 months and several versions of date, which is why they couldn't do what they wanted to. Even your reply is about a version that isn't the latest! So in future, please don't!
