AI Pilot kidnapped me! Quite an experience.

Post by Socratatus »

While exploring the Station on foot I decided to nosily enter one of the impressive big ships that had landed. just to have a quick look.
Just as I got in, the door closed on me and I was trapped. Then the ship TOOK OFF ... I was like, "Whoa!" as the ship headed for outer space!

Then I thought, "Let`s just go along with it and see what happens". The female pilot warped to another system, linked up and travelled with some other cargo ships, paused for a bit, got herself involved in a small dogfight (which had me worried for a bit) then headed away. I could still talk to her but couldn`t ask her to take me back.

FINALLY, after about 30 minutes, she headed for a Station and landed. I still couldn`t get out, but Saved, then tried jumping out and I did!

What an experience, I even remember the lady`s name which was Reno Keppel! lol!

I won`t forget that experience!

Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

LOL.

So I'm not the only one!

I was seeing how it had improved over X3, re: immersion, so I see a ship land and I stroll on board to say hi. Very impressed that I could do that!
I had not even been on my own ship yet, and I wondered if I could just GTA this one....Pilot was in his seat, had a quick pointless chat with him and he didnt tell me to get out or anything, so I'm looking around and the doors close...is he going to take off? I braced my butthole for bugs, ready to be glitched out a window at any moment, but none arrived. Oh the joy to see that working so realistically (sans conversational elements).

Then I'm thinking to myself.. wait a sec.. this is X... my ship is back there and I'm broke... HEY LEMME OUT WAIT WAIT LEMME OUT...

My first use of a transporter, was moments later and the ship hull dragged me a good 2km before I was free of it, another 20 minutes passed while I figured out the suit controls ( I thought I was moving, I was not ).
I head toward the station, discovering the ship must lack the module to fly itself or simply doesnt do that like in X3 (if no captain/pilot). Still not sure which.

Spent a good hour and got to watch a few big ships trying to wriggle into the docks in very incorrect fashion. They attempted to come up from below it and got stuck, eventually seeming to shove themselves through.

I made it back inside a hangar, but could not convert myself back to foot traffic nor 'eject' from the suit, my ship wasnt there, I had acquired guidance (tracking) to the station, not my ship, doh.
Then I tried to pull up the owned ships with Shift-P and crashed to desktop. (I had upgraded my drivers since then and well...we'll see..)

I was laughing most of the time, a few ships crashed into me too, which was also 'fun'. My only concerns now are if the crashes continue or if the ships can't fly correctly (ie: docking pathfinding)
Lots of fun, been waiting years for this.

Same thing happened to me! Wandered onto a nice looking ship that had just docked, said hello to the pilot, they shut the door and flew off. I used the transporter to go EVA and noticed I was being dragged along with the ships trajectory!

I used my jetpack thrusters to get away from the ship's wake then watched the ship disappear into the distance at super fast speed. Looking back at the space station, which was 7KM away by now, I started limping back at 4-8m/s. 2 mins later I was dead. Blown to bits by some random red enemy. Fun times.

Hahaha, I've also had this happen. It was pretty great. Luckily by the time I decided to explore someone elses ship I already had a Cerberus and after a very similar experience of scrambling to EVA and get out of the ship's wake I was able to order my ship to fly to my position so I could dock with it. In any case, it was such an organic and amusing scenario. Easily one of my favorite moments in this game so far.
