how do you dock in this game?

so I did the tutorials, but they only show you how to launch your ship, not to do dock it. So how do you dock, I managed to get docking clearance, and then follow the green thingie, managed to get all the green thingies in my radar thingie. but then nothing happens, have I to click a key? do a sacrifice? what?

To dock:

- Line up same direction as green ship
- Get ship level with Q or E. This makes red top line green
- Get blue target reticle into red circle, middle of top red line. Circle will turn green
- Ease forward till bottom line turns green
- Use A or D to centre ship in middle of bottom green line. Till small red segnment turns green
- When all above green, use S to gently lower yourself onto pad
- At some point you'll trigger autodock

With all the threads about people unable to dock I wonder if some are missing their docking guidance display. Mine disappeared recently and I had to relaunch to get it back.

1. My first mistake was I kept swooping in too low. Don`t. come in at a reasonable height (at the height of the large number).
2. Line up by pushing up the nose until circle in the middle is green which is your nose up `attitude` angle.
3.then make sure your level. when the horizontal lines go green, you are level.
4. Then back up or go forward until the `V` is above the greyed `v` below.
5. Finally, hover down until your `V` goes green and you will auto-land.
6. Have patience.

One of the first things you should do in this game is to buy a Docking Computer mk 2. I haven't played much...but from what I can tell this is what it does (and what it used to do)

X2/X3:
The Docking Computer (no mk1, no mk2) just autodock teleported you onto the station when you hit shift-d. Highly convenient and I wish it still did this.

X4:
Hit shift-d and you still get manual green dock guide lights. However, when you approach the wire-frame green ship ghost, which tells you basically "you should dock here", you then get an automated docking procedure. Meaning you don't have to fiddle with orienting your ship properly, adjusting its speed, or anything else. Much MUCH easier (though I do wish it did what it did in X2/X3).

With the above said, I couldn't quite figure out what I was getting when I bought the Docking Computer mk 1. It seemed like I still had all the same manual docking like when I didn't have one. I'm sure it did something for me, I just don't know what it was.
