Here are some randomly generated missions that game want me to do in first hour of gameplay:
- Argon vs. Xenon - Bring 5 ships to rally point for 80k Cr...bring Collosus, Behemot and 3 Cerberus.
- Argon vs Xenon - Bring 2 genius pilots, 2 genius Engineers.
- Argon vs Xenon - deploy satelite with proper coverage for 25k Cr - Adv. Satellite is advised....which cost 100k per one.
- buy station plot for 6 mil and build defence station there.
What next? Slay Xenon I in your Elite for gentle pat in the back? Solve Galaxy hunger? Repair entire gate network with the duct tape and bubble gum?

Think of it that you are not the only person in the universe and that there are more, more capable figures out there, maybe capable of doing these missions.
Think of yourself as a single individual in a vast space. Pick the missions that are fine for you, not those for "others" or later.

... what is a drop of rain, compared to the storm? ... what is a thought, compared to the mind? ... our unity is full of wonder which your tiny individualism cannot even conceive ... I've heard it all before ... you're saying nothing new ... I thought I saw a rainbow ... but I guess it wasn't true ... you cannot make me listen ... I cannot make you hear ... you find your way to heaven ... I'll meet you when you're there ...

Lol. What's next, should enemies not attack you unless you deactivate "pacifist" mode? Should other ships and empires not exploit trade opportunities until you have your own trading fleet? Should miners not mine until you're ready?
This is X. I'm glad we moved past the X3 method of locking everything behind Trade, Combat and Reputation ranks. If you are flying a starter ship and the commander tells you they need a Destroyer killed, and doesn't give you any time limit, guess what you should do is prepare for it.
What I can agree on is that missions could become harder or more involved the more you participate in the effort. But to me it becomes pretty clear those missions are intended for mid/late game. There's also no plot-based reason for the leaders to give you progressively harder missions, given that they mention they are hiring freelancers (i.e. on a contracted capacity), so it makes sense they wouldn't micromanage who should do what.
If this was different and you were joining the Navy in a military way, starting at private, then yea I'd find bizarre being ordered to kill a demon with a kitchen knife.

The problem is not difficulty, but lack of proper reward-dificulty balance.
If I had Colossus, Behemot and 3 Cerberus I'd bave better things to do than run to lame 80k request.

Kinda reminds me of playing X3, I'd see an M5 ship for sale... for 50 million credits.
The Teladi are known for creating a standardized currency, ship insurance, and insurance fraud.

I'm guessing the point of those guild missions is to gain more rep? They don't seem very lucrative, no. Gotta get that faction-wide trade info somehow!
You don't talks about X:Rebirth...

X games aren't meant to be balanced. If you can't handle it, run away. Gives you something to aspire to!
