Main Gun No Long Fires. What Have I Done?

I can't get the main gun on my starting Elite to fire.

Its there in the ship but just will not fire.

Oh, by the way is there anyway to reset to controls to their defaults?

Try following :

Go to Ship Interactions --> Ship Information --> Weapon configuration --> set your main weapon active on all 4 primary fields

Make sure you are on your right fire-group. Press 1, without holding shift or anything else, and then see if it fires.

Restarted game and reloaded - weapon was OK once again.
