Bought the game today, and played for about about 1 hr, doing nothing much more than looking around in stations, flying in space, and travelled to another system, and i am really surprised it runs so well on my lowly AMD Fx6300, which i have had for over 5 yrs now.
Now there was no risk in me buying this game, as i am upgrading in 2 weeks to the Ryzen 2600, with new mobo and 16gb ddr 4 ram.
So i knew there would be no refunds needed.
So i started of in the young guns scenario, spawned at the station, i was getting 37-44 fps, did a few of the starter tutorials to get a feel for the ship, flying in space i was getting a constant 58-60 fps, MSI after burners riva tuner didn't work for the fps ingame display, so i enabled the steam fps display. (unfortunately doesnt show in the screenshots.
Traveling through the highway gates, still had 60 fps, so didnt seem to effect it at all, as soon as i approach a station, fps dropped to 45, still very acceptable with this cpu.
Also to note, the game installed perfectly with no problems, i remembered the issue reported with nvidia vsync, so i enabled 60 fps vsync in riva tuner, which appears to be working, as i never went above the fairly rock steady 60 fps in game when flying in space.
Overall a much better performance than i expected with this cpu, i know that as the game progresses, and i build stations and fleets, my cpu will probably slow to a crawl, just as it did in xrebirth, but i should have my shiny new ryzen by then.
So well done egosoft in my opinion, from the perspective of a first time instalation, was stress free, and running well. I lowered my settings before starting as you can see below, and now cant wait to get my ryzen 5 2600 and bump them up to high at least, and dust off my Saitek X52 joystick.

What an absurd combination! But I can do better still. My i5-6600K is paired with an AMD HD6850

It's a good thing you skipped the first gen Ryzen and was patient enough to wait for the more mature second generation.
