What is the actual procedure to claim abandoned size M ships?

Post by zarqoon »

I did the whole scanning thing without any success. Didn't find a dataleak or anything.

Cleared all the untargetable mines around it.
Then I got a marine and the "claim" setting went active. The marine enters a boarding pod and circles the ship.

I then tried to shoot down the shields. Tried commanding the marine to do something else. Sent a second marine. Nothing made any difference.

At some point I just left. Some time later the ship was mine and one of the marines was the pilot. The other one was still circling.

Later I found a second size M ship. Cleared the mines, scanned, sent a marine. Circling ensued. Left the PC came back 10 minutes later ship was mine with the marine piloting it.

A few hours ago found the third size M ship. Same procedure. Went for breakfast. Came back a good hour later marine still circling.

That can't really be how it's supposed to work.

I also can not dock the spacesuit to that first claimed ship. I can fly it fine if I enter in a Port but if I leave the ship I can't get back in. Getting a "docking denied". The only way to get back in is to summon my starter ship get into that and then fly both to a port to switch over.

As a side note you seem to die if you hang out in the spacesuit for too long. Without any real warning.

Little update: Leaving the sector with you active ship will immedately stop the circling and the claim suceeeds. A mission to claim ship I claimed this way did not have the "Docking denied" problem. Although the mission said to claim it with the spacesuit, which didn't work, and not with a boarding pod.

My experience has been the same lol, but I haven't tried to eva from a capped M class yet. Someone said something about being able to fly thru the eva hatch before it has been capped, like there is no collision mesh, wonder if there is a panel in there we can whack with the repair tool like on S class ships?

I've been in there already. Shot at all the walls with the repair tool. Nothing in there.

Fly over in spacesuit and when close, scan it. There maybe something flashing brightly while in scan mode, if you see it, get within 5m of it and it will decrypt signal. After that, target Ship and press F. Choose claim. Once you claim it, you need to have a pilot for it. So make sure you have 1 extra employee that is a pilot on board. Otherwise, your new ship vulnerable to attack while you go get one.
Anyone see where I parked my Nova? Man, it's going to get messy in this spacesuit.
