Request: long range station scanning and much easier data/mission finds
ATM you have to almost ram the station part to scan it. Same as in Rebirth, it's really bad. Instant scan of whole station from several km would be nice.
Much worse is data leaks. Small graphic on big stations, I *know* there are data leaks nearby and I still can't reliably find them.
Few tips: when station scanning, graphic or audio pings that let you quickly locate data leaks. Also, please, more range on actually scanning the leak, your ship must be practically *in* the dataleak to scan it. No idea how we are supposed to do that in big ships.
One of the worst ideas from Rebirth is back with vengeance. I mean, randomly finding plot mission in station data leak? Are you kidding?

Wouldn't it be a simple solution to simply increase the scanning range to a few dozen Km's? So that it would near instantly get everything you can get when flying near it? It would be cheat-ish more or less, but if you want a quick fix, that's the first solution that I can think of.

Not sure it's possible in case of data leaks. There are usually multiple data leaks on station, some of those lead to missions. You have to accept calls with F then. What happens if you scan station and multiple missions are suddenly asking for your attention? I am sure the game is NOT ready to handle that. The only real solution is to get rid of those data leaks completely and replace the process with something else, that doesn't require you to sniff around stations, but that is much harder I bet.
Phinixa, thanks for pointing out instascan, I downloaded mods from nexusmods and they work. Now only the data leaks remain. Thats probably harder.

honestly the scanning in rebirth was better than this.

Basic station scanning... no, it was worse in rebirth because you had to not only get close to station part, but you had to look at one specific place, and icon signalizing this was it was only visible from small range and specific angles. You could spend minutes flying around single station part, looking for how to scan it. Now you only need to get close.
Of course, the horrible anomaly scan, ie data leaks, is worse then most thing rebirth forced us to do. Which says a LOT.

Well, I don't know if this is true or not, but I am assuming that the data leaks are pretty far off from each other. So as long as we don't go overboard, and just go with 10km or something, I don't think that it will be a problem. Does anyone know how far the data leaks tend to be? Also, it needs a better visual clue, because I was flying around a station, trying to look for more and just couldn't find one, anything at all. Is there something that tells you that there are no more data leaks to find?

My wish was answered - and it works very well.
You still need to be very close to complete the scan but from 10km you can find out if there are anomalies and where they are. That's 98 percent less work right there

Re: Request: long range station scanning and much easier data/mission finds
I really hate this scan mechanic too. I understand that they want people to look at the beautiful stations that they have created, but a different method of getting people to do it should have been taken. Maybe some kind of optional ship that sneaks around the station that has high end modification components or something, just.... not the way it is now.
As for the signal leaks that you find at a station.. I've realized that those missions pop up in the mission handler thing in the map (I forget exactly what it's called now) I typically fly around the station and scan them all, declining the missions as I go, and then afterwards accepting the ones that I want to do from that manager, that way accepting the missions doesn't interrupt my scanning. It seems like any mod that wanted to find all of the signal leaks at once would just have to decline all of the missions and then you could go back and accept them afterwards from the manager.
I think I might have even declined the plot mission first on accident. (I'm not sure it's a plot as I haven't progressed very far yet, but it's the one with the most voice acting so I'm assuming)

Actually there's two mods.
One points you to all the data leaks, the other one pre-scanns all stations, so that you don't have to gather intel in order to see what they're producing or what they store.
Data leaks: https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/mods/122
Scanned stations: https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/mods/115
They both work well.
