Please tell me there's an auto dock you can buy.

Head to an Equipment Dock (for example) and get Software: Docking Computer Mk2.

I can't believe that I am UNABLE to dock, on anything!
Been trying for HOURS and (eventually) get the lights green, then nothing!
If I am unable to dock, how can I get a Docking Computer........??

It's a good skill to learn! Not sure what the docking computer is like yet but I'm getting faster at doing it. Coming out of travel mode around 4km, slam on brakes, line up and then dock. Enjoying the challenge!

I'll do my best to help:

When you are near a station you want to dock at, left mouse click the station, then right click the mouse and at the bottom you'll see "Request Dock at ..." Left click that (you have to be within 10km or so of the station to do this) then you'll see some green lights showing you where to dock. If you don't have the docking computer you'll have to manually dock. It's not too difficult to do, just align the ship x/y/z (if that doesn't make sense just let me know I'll try to explain better) and slowly lower your ship down to land.

With the Mk2 (I skipped buying Mk1) you can just head straight for the docking area after you have been approved to dock, approach it as fast as you want and just bee-line it for where you are supposed to dock and it will auto dock you once you get close.

I fumbled around with this quite a bit myself. Make sure you have permission from the station and you have the green dotted path, I seem to recall still seeing the green ship over a docking location without actually having permission to dock (I could be wrong about that - still a newbie here). You'll get it. And yeah, I'll be using the docking computer from now on.

Any idea, what the Docking Computer Mk I does? It doesn't feel any different, does it just start the docking animation a foot from the floor instead of when touching the deck or is there a key to activate it or something?

I think this is one outrageous minus for X4 - they didn't filled encyclopedia entries for most things! Systems, Fanctions, ships, equipment - like 60% has "no description avaliable" or even just blank space!

How I should know if something is worth a buy if I don't see desription and difference between mk1. and mk2.

This one has a description, but it is a one liner that doesn't really explain anything. Oh, and you can't right click in the trade menu to get to the entry, it doesn't even appear in your encyclopedia until you bought it.

How do I land if my ship keeps clipping through the floor? Also the 'auto-dock' feature when close to the docking platform floor does absolutely nothing, no matter how slow I descend (all HUD indicators for landing are green). This is extremely frustrating.

All indicators for me are green as well, and will not dock. I can go 'into' the floor and then my indicator goes red, but when all are green it just hovers. Getting up out of my chair does nothing. Saved my game and did a youtube search for something showing a successful manual dock, searched Steam Community, and here on the forums--nothing I can find different than what I'm doing. Clearly I'm missing something.

Same exact issue is happening to me.

I have permission, am at the correct bay, all landing indicators are green. I cannot get the ship to dock.

Oh, it clips right through the floor just fine. so I'm clearly in the correct position at some point. \

Very frustrating and pretty much game breaking.
