[Crashes] Not able to start a new game (or at all)
Whenever I want to start a new game, with any of the three scenarios I get a crash at the loading screen between 52-62%.
Also the main menu seems to stutter a lot, which I find weird, since my System is pretty high end.
I tried already:
- reinstalling multiple times,
- giving Admin rights to the .exe,
- trying different Drive structures: M.2 and normal HDD
- different graphical settings from lowest to highest, including tweaking Nvidia settings
- turning everyhting to default
- restriciting to 1080p resolution
My specs:
Windows 10
i7-8086k 5GHz
16 GB RAM
Asus ROG 1080Ti
Asus Z-370F
playing on 2560-1440 at 144hz

Could you provide the other information requested in the sticky thread at the top of the forum, in particular DXDiag and vulkaninfo files. If you can find a crashdump (.dmp) file in your game folder then that would also help.

Hey,
of course, sorry, I didn't see the sticky before. Thank you already for your reply.
- Version: 1.10
- language: English
- vanilla
- Game start: any of the three
- Exact nature of the problem, where and when it occurs and what you were doing at the time: Any time I start a new game, the intro sequence plays, audio and voice over works fine, as soon as the loading bar hits between 52-64% I either get a CTD or a BSOD with either an unknown error or WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR.
Crash Event:

I don't know how to add a file to the post for the DXdiag :/

If in doubt, just upload your DXDiag and vulkaninfo files to somewhere like dropbox or pastebin and link them here.

Ok, thanks for the tip.

I hope it works for you to download.
Vulkaninfo I couldn't produce, but Vulkan is for AMD only right?
Thank you for your hard work and patience!

No, Vulkan is for AMD and NVIDIA. The game won't run without it. Instructions on getting the file are in the sticky thread at the top of the forum. Those crashdumps (not the event log entries) would also be useful if you can find them.

Thanks for the info, Vulkaninfo didn't quite want to play Ball with me.
But I got it at last.

Re: [Crashes] Not able to start a new game (or at all)
Tried a fresh install of the latest Nvidia Driver via the link on their Vulkan site.
I got to 70% on the first loading screen, after starting a new game.
But it crashed, this time I got an error message of "stopped working", so all in all progress.
attached are the .dmp

Thanks. I'll get someone to take a look at those crashdumps to see what is happening.

Re: [Crashes] Not able to start a new game (or at all)
Hey,
Quick Update:
Sadly even after the three updates to v1.21 it didn't change at all. Any New Game I try, starts to load and I get either BSOD or CTD.
Is there any Clue as to what might cause this?
Thank you for your hardwork!

Re: [Crashes] Not able to start a new game (or at all)
For anyone having similar problems, that use ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-F Motherboard.
I tried flashing the newest BIOS and it worked for the most part. I got an hour long stable gameplay with only two BSODs.
!! Please be aware that flashing your BIOS can wreck your system. !!
newest BIOS:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-S ... _Download/
- use EZflash and the manual selection of the .cap file to flash the BIOS.
I am pretty sure there are other things still that make X4 abit unstable on my system, but this "fix" got it at least to load up and able to be played.
