Request: Boresight turning

I'm hoping someone could create a mod that would change the mouse controls from "Chase the dot" to "Boresight", where "Boresight" is how ships used to control in X3:R and X3:TC (i.e. if you stop moving the mouse, the ships stops yawing/pitching).

I make software for a living so I could probably pull this mod off myself, but I don't know if it's actually possible (i.e. can you only mod assets via XML/MD declarative style scripting) or, can you get low level control over the code (i.e. so I can hook into mouse controls and change them).

If someone knows if a similar mod was created for X:Rebirth that I could use as a starting point, or if someone wants to work on this mod with me (or on their own) let me know :-)

All you need to do is hit Shift+Space Bar

Hitting Shift+Spacebar doesn't change the steering method to Boresight, it just enable a mode, where you don't need to hold down your left mousebutton to let the ship follow the mouse-circle.
It's still an indirect control of the ship, as your ship just follows the mouse-circle and the mouse is actually not steering your ship.

I would agree, boresight is desperately needed... Along with the button to target under reticule and target nearest owned ship.

Yes! Yes! Please! Pppplllleeeeaaaasssseeee!!!! We need “Boresight” chase the dot” is worse than gulf. :lol:

I don't want to judge, but it makes me wonder why do you think this concept of control is more comfortable to use than the current one.

I mean, it was the most annoying thing in Reunion. I was personally glad this new type of control was introduced in X3TC.

I may be a bit thick but what is "Boresight turning" I've never heard of it before. :gruebel:
