Building Stations
I am looking at starting to plan out my first station and I am currently looking at not having all the required components.
I am assuming you need to use 'Scan Mode' to scan existing stations to get their component plans (so that you don't have to purchase the blueprints) but the % isn't going up.
For example, I have Argon Wharf at 41% and I have not been able to get it to increase.
Any ideas?
Also is there any indication of the 'minimum requirements' for a station?

Re: Building Stations
I've stumbled on the player HQ plot and had to build a dock for it, i didn't get any progress toward it until i dumped more money into the building account.
But all that was after I had hired a builder ship, not sure If that was required but I did. Want clearly told how to go about it.
Third, I was asked to assign a manager for the station and have no idea where to find one. Yet somehow was able to build anyway.
Im following this until we can figure it out.

Re: Building Stations
Yup, I have a 'station' that is a landing dock and storage at the moment.
Saving to make the next module and still trying to work out how to get a manager. I tried assigning a crewmember who was on the ship I had landed there and although he said 'yes' he did not re-assign.

Re: Building Stations
Minimum requirements for a station are a dock and a pier. Also good to have a few connector module plans. To get free blueprints you need to scan data leaks that spawn on modules. Data leaks are separate from the scanning of the station and show as red flashing balls when in scan mode.
Argon Defence Platforms are good places to get a pier blueprint. The data leak always spawns at the top of the wide part of the module. Dock data leaks usually are on the sides underneath the connector. Fix leak missions are also a way to highlight data leaks on stations.
Station scan intel is limited by the type of scanner you are using with that of the space suit giving 100%
You need to hire/assign a Build type ship to construct the station. Idle NPC ones can be hired. To assign a manager hire an NPC from a station platform and select the station in the property menu before assigning them as the manager to the station. Managers just affect the efficiency of production modules and give orders to subordinates.

I've tried hiring NPCs from the station platforms, but they can't be assigned to my station. It tells knee they can't get there??DrSuperEvil wrote: ↑Sat, 1. Re: Building Stations
Hello All,
back after 5 years here in the forum
I am enjoying these first hours in X4, steep learning curve i must say
, but I already stumbled on a data storage, where i could repair some red nodes, and voila some nifty items and cool cash, by pure coincidence i stumpled upon this quest while trying to get 100% on a station, i ve got my ship blown up, left in the space suit with a non functioning station, and no way to build the docking area be course of missing resources and apparantly a builder, suffocating to death, how did you guys get around this? I can see from the post that some of you actually build the docking area and are looking for managers....

Re: Building Stations
ON the HQ station one, I just popped in the landing platform off to the side, popped some money over and NPC's took care of the rest. for the other things I've added I had to find a XL ship not moving and hire them through the station building menu. Got tired of doing that and just bought my own now.MjrScumbag wrote: ↑Sat, 1. Dec 18, 20:58I've tried hiring NPCs from the station platforms, but they can't be assigned to my station. Re: Building Stations
I am also having this problem, do I need to locate a random person wandering around the dock of my new station?Kaeltheras wrote: ↑Sat, 1. I have tried
1. Re-assigning a crewman (Nothing happens)
2. Hiring a new person at another station (Cannot 'get' to the station)
3. Throwing money at the problem (put money in station account)
I will try finding a person at the new station, but the current population is '0'
Also the 'tooltip' for station building doesn't indicate that a Pier is a Required element, Or that a Hab Module for workers is required either? I am guessing that is why I cannot assign a manager even though I have a solar station generating Energy Cells.

Re: Building Stations
Ok, so now I have a 'complete' station (no hab module as I don't qualify for that yet) but it is all green, with no warnings or errors.
And I still cannot successfully get a manager to be deployed to the station!
I also cannot work out how to actually sell the stuff being produced, but that may be reliant on a manger.
Help?

Re: Building Stations
I can't assign any crew to be a manager either. They say yes, and nothing happens. Same if I try to move that same apprentice to another ship as service crew: he says yes, and nothing happens.
It only seems to work when I assign the pilot to work elsewhere. Since I wanted a specific pilot on those two ships, I had to to quite a bit of juggling around (move pilot to other ship, promote a pilot, send new pilot to be manager, promote another to be pilot, and so on).
I can also assign one of my pilots to be a black marketeer, but then he just gets stuck in the pilot's seat.

Re: Building Stations
I tried to do that (and got a manager assigned) but my Pilot vanished totally when I promoted the Crewmember to Pilot.
But at least my 2 stations now have managers, although one took 2 tries to get it right
Promote to Manager - stay in seat
Assign as pilot
Assign as Manager again - Vanishes and actually becomes the manager!

Re: Building Stations
I second this, had to assign the crew member to be pilot, then comm them, and re-assign to manager. Seems to be the only way to get someone from your ship to be manager.kspn wrote: ↑Mon, 3. Re: Building Stations
I successfully built a big station with the help of a mission i got from scanning a comm signal. Same issue, i dont get a manager there (will try now as written here) but also have 0/0 workers. Hwo do i get workers? Hab Modules i have not seen anywhere to be bought. Also is the pier module really necessary? What does it do? And hwo do i assign ships to the station, or is that only possible hwen workers are there and station is fully operational?

Re: Building Stations
For a manager, use the pilot of a ship that has landed there. As for workers, you need to build housing units. The blueprints are expensive...I got mine from scanning leakages.Dugobalosch wrote: ↑Tue, 4. Re: Building Stations
My only issue with using the ships pilot is that I kind of wanted to keep the 3* Pilot
I now have a reasonably successful Silicon Wafer plant
