Can't find a place to buy ships.

Alright, so I've been looking for how to buy ships for a few hours niw and its starting to frustrate me and I need help. Im currently in Blackhole Sun V.

My question is what is the nearest place to buy small ships from my current location and how do I find more? Are they a part of these factiories I see everywhere? I rather not keep looking anymore because there is a trail of pirates seemingly intent on folowing me and only me just to kill me....

Thats what Ive been doing and I havent had much luck. I dont even know what Im supposed go be looking for on the map. Are they just labled what they are or do I have to dock at each station I come accross and check it out that way?

Hi! How are you using the long scanner? I turn it on Shift-3 and what next? Pressing R does nothing as this key is not mapped in my case...

The default key bind is "L" which is your secondary fire button. In the tutorial it explains you need to press and hold this button up to 2 seconds. Any longer and the charge will cause your scan to fail. The long range scanner I believe has a range up to roughly 300 km. So you'll need to move around the sector to find what your looking for.
