Greetings!
I have just started X4 Version 1.00 (323021) New Game, Young Gun, no modifications, with the following system specs:
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
i7-8700K
64 GB RAM
ASUS TUF z370 Pro Gaming Motherboard
Nvidia Titan X
Soundblaster Z
I have been fiddling with getting my T-flight HOTAS X set up to work X4, and for some reason the controller setup screen will not acknowledge presses of the POV hat. I've used it previously in the X games for strafing up/down and left/right, (was enjoying X-Rebirth awaiting the launch of X4) but when I go to assign it the cursor blinks and pressing the POV hat has no effect. I just doesn't read it at all. As this is the first day of release these kind of hiccups are inevitable, and hopefully this issue will be addressed soon. Looks beautiful so far and I look forward to being able to get 'into the game!'
Cheers!

It's been bug city, I got the same joystick and it's a paperweight for this game... It works whenever it wants to.

I have fixed some of the problems with my control binding by deleteing the mapping .xml files and starting over. The key bindings in this game are really tricky. Also there really needs to be a way to turn off this auto leveling without using full Newtonian physics. It screws up the joystick sesitivty and makes a constant fight with the controls. I like the fight assist but it needs some fine control options to it like in the old X games where you could turn the auto leveling off.

@boogieman335: I found a setting under "Game Settings" called Autoroll. Might be what you're looking for. Unfortunately, no toggle button when flying.

Interesting, where do you find the mapping .xml files, I can't find them anywhere?boogieman335 wrote: ↑Sat, 1. Re: Unable to map T-Flight HOTAS POV Hat
My apologies to the Dev's I found the auto roll switch and turned it off and that fixed that problem. I would have expected that setting to be on the menu with the controllers not the game settings I guess thats why I missed it. However the control binding seems to be a problem area. I got the joystick working fine but then I started getting the black screen when I would get up from the seat. I fixed this by changing the sensitivity setting and had to twiddle with it for a while because it made the map keep moving even though the ship was stopped. Got it fixed now but it seems like the deadzone and sensitivity settings are uber sensitive. The .xml file that contains the settings seems to sometimes get corrupted or something or maybe it's because it makes multiple versions of it. I have fixed control problems before in Xrebirth and X3AP after the last update to it, by deleting the input.xml or input2.xml located in the user/documents/egosoft /x whatever folder and letting it build a new one when I remap it. Did that for X4 and fixed the problems.

Re: Unable to map T-Flight HOTAS POV Hat
Greetings all!
I had posted this the first night I was able to get my hands on the game (I was at work on the 30th) and was tired when I tried to do the mapping. The next morning I deleted this post as I realized that I was trying to map the POV hat (a digital part of the analogue stick) in the analog section of the mapping window. However, when I went to bind the POV hat in the digital section I was confused because it showed the strafe directions as already bound to POV UP, POV DOWN, etc, so I highlighted each and bound it to my stick's POV UP, POV DOWN, etc, jsut to make sure and now it works fine.
I was surprised to find that my post is still here, as I had deleted it the next morning before there were any replies and acknowledged the deletion - I didn't want my post clogging up the tech section when it wan't a bug but my own excitement clouding my ability to figure things out.
Cheers all!
